becoming a motorcycle instructor in CH

Hi all,

I seem to be doing a lot of asking, and no answering - Hope to turn this around soon........

Anyhow, I have a full, clean UK motocycle license, have held for three years +. It seems there is a (probably small) demand for English speaking motorcycle instructors. Does anyone know how one becomes a motorcycle instructor in CH?? Just a thought, more out of curiosity then anything else. My German is pretty basic at the mo, but I'm learning and improving!!

Thanks,

RB

Re: becoming a motorcycle instructor in CH

According to this German PDF the process is:
  1. Get forms, documents and calendar from the cantonal traffic office and regional schools
  2. Absolve practical pre-exam which may take place only twice a year
  3. Instructor course at a school that is recognised by the Federal Road Office (in the example: 160 lessons and 2 practical blocks)
  4. Exam
Needless to say that the course will require understanding of a national language.

Well for a start you won't be doing it with a UK license .

Motorcycle instructors work from April/May to September/October.

You might want to consider being a driving instructor too.

And you can, in no way, rely on the English-speaking community to support your business - that is short-sighted and will fail.

And naturally, LOL at you having a UK licence

Re: becoming a motorcycle instructor in CH

Thanks all for that.

d'oh re licence

Yeah, I've read the threads on transferring UK licences, seems simple enough - my partner has gone through this process - Swiss to UK and back again.

Unfortunately this seems a blind ally for me due to language skills and a lack of a driving license!! never bothered with the car license due to city living and mild Winters.

Must get the German together - it seems the key to so much with living in CH.

Will stick to the teaching methinks......
