Re: How long is your commute?

When I was working in Zurich I was 10 mins walking distance from the office. Doing a very sedentary job, I loved that 20 mins walking a day, in all kinds of weather. That is one thing I miss from my daily commute, that nice daily walk!

P.S. I voted wrong in the poll though, my current commute goes from a 20 minutes bus ride to a 3.5 hour train ride, with a few 2-hour drive, 1.5 hour flight, etc. in between, depending on which office I am working at.

Re: How long is your commute?

Monday, door-to-door via Nyon and Zürich HB (ICN, VBZ): 3h20

Tuesday-Friday, door-to-door via Zug and Zürich HB (S-Bahn, IR, VBZ): 1 hour (or 35 min by car when someone—usually my grandpa—drops me off at UZH).

Re: How long is your commute?

12 minutes cycle ride, or if it's really bad weather, 15 mins by bus.

Re: How long is your commute?

Luzern to Rotkreuz. Ten minutes walk to the station, ten minutes on the train then another ten minutes walk to the office, which is actually quite a nice mix in terms of waking up in the morning.

Not enough time on the train to get into anything more than the 20 Minuten, though. Sometimes I feel nostalgic for my hour's commute into London in the 1980s, purely because it gave ne time to read a proper newspaper every day.

In summer, an hour by bike along the Reuss... not ideal though, too much noise from the motorway.

Re: How long is your commute?

Currently about 7 seconds (to the kitchen table and my laptop). A couple of minutes if I'm waylaid by the RufusHound needing a belly rub.

Re: How long is your commute?

If I drive, it should take 7 mins (door-to-door). But, it so happens that I don't and thus it takes around 26-30 mins by public transport. If I walk, it would take 35 mins.

Re: How long is your commute?

I have it pretty good, slightly better since the Fahrplanwechsel. I live in rural Kt. ZH, and have a door-door 45 min commute via bus and tram. I get on at the first stop so I generally always have a seat and 90% of the time I'm very happy taking public transport.

It would take me about the same amount of time if I were to use our car, the traffic can get pretty bad, and I hate sitting in traffic. I used to commute with a Vespa and it was quicker than a car as I could go around traffic, but it broke down and I always had the feeling that I was cheating death with all the shitty drivers out there so I'm not sure when or if I'll replace it.
