Selling car with cancelled grey card

So, it's a long story.

Simplified, I have a car in Switzerland, bought here, previously registered with grey card, etc. Normal.

However, about a year ago the plates were removed and returned, and the grey card sent back to me as 'cancelled' (For stupid reasons around the insurance payments.....).
So, I have the car still, no plates, grey-card with a big 'cancelled' stamp across it. Don't drive it obviously.

Is there any way I can sell the car still?
Any suggestion of steps or things I can do to just try to sell it and get rid of it?
Prefer to just try to sell it as-is.

M.

Re: Selling car with cancelled grey card

Thats fine & every car at a dealer will have cancelled plates.
Just advertise it as normal.

Unless you sell to a garage and they will put their own plates on - but they will probaly pay bottom dollar. Or it will be put on a truck and taken directly via Slovenia.

Re: Selling car with cancelled grey card

There are plenty of dealers on the internet who will buy the car for export. You'll get bottom price but they come and take it away and problem sorted. Just search auto ankauf on Google.

Re: Selling car with cancelled grey card

Why do you think it matters?

Of course you can sell it.

If you want people to take it for a test ride, put the plates back on it.

Re: Selling car with cancelled grey card

Personally I wouldn't buy it as it may have taken damage standing around for a full year (Standschäden), and I lack the knowledge to even think about identifying them.

However, I'd expect any professional to have that knowledge, so you should be able to sell it without much ado.

Another point:
You'll need to bring it to the buyer for him to inspect the car, towing may be not worth the cost. I think you can get a temporary permit (valid for three days perhaps) so you can drive the car yourself, but I'm not sure about the details. I'm sure Tom or somebody else can explain.
