Cellphone use consequences?

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is well!!
I have a small question.

What are the consequences if using your phone while driving??

My husband was looking for someone's contact information and a police stopped him... Got his name and information and said he would send his info to Bern and that he would receive something in the mail. It's the first time he gets stopped for this reason!!!!

What will he receive?? a ticket??
Will they suspend his drivers license??

Can someone clear this up for us??

Thank you in advanced!!

Re: Cellphone use consequences?

It's Fr 100 if they issue the fine on the spot, if it goes via the procureure then they will whack on an additional fee of around Fr 80 to Fr 90

So I'm assuming they'll charge more because he did not issue the fine on the spot...

Re: Cellphone use consequences?

2 versions... taking a call when driving without hands free and then looking for a contact and scrolling thru then making the call... on the handset.

I know someone that had the licence suspended for 1 month for the latter

Call me an old fart if you will, but I am really fed up with seeing the top of the driver's head when I check my rear view mirror!

Any newish bluetooth hands-free set will have the function to use voice-commanded contact telephoning, mine does and it cost 40.- which I use with my iPhone 6...people seem to like living in the dark ages unless of course he was on What's App...

Re: Cellphone use consequences?

He had his headphones in while the police saw and stopped him. :P He just needed to find the contact to make the call.

I agree, I hate seeing people on their phones while driving. Completely against it. In fact, I don't do it myself. BUT when I need to make the call and Siri doesn't understand guess what?? You have to do it manually!!!! :P

Yes, you have to do it manually... in the same way that you wait for the next layby, offramp, or parking spot and manually steer your vehicle into it.

After you pull over to the side of the road in an appropriate spot and put the car in park, so you don't harm yourself or others. NOT while driving.

No. You don't. You don't need to make the call at all. We (well, some people, anyway) seem to have become so dependant on phones that we've lost our ability to simply wait until it's convenient.

I don't think wearing headphones or ear pieces will help him much: the driver must be able to hear the emergency services, so hopefully the policeman saw at least one "functioning" ear.
