When I went to get mine exchanged, they asked for proof that I was living in Canada for the last 5 years before CH. I could not prove this so I went back another day, the other person didn't ask and all went smoothly.

On the other hand I got a badass sticker on my Canadian license saying "Not Valid in Switzerland".

I get quite a few comments back in Canada, since in most cases it's considered a personal ID rather than a drivers license.
Why don't you remove the sticker then?

Re: Driving with a Canadian Licence

I'm seeing that Canada is in your list of countries who do not need further test for certain categories. Do you have any links you can share for me to find more details of how the conversion process work? It seems the link previously attached is not working anymore.

I'm also interested in getting a scooter license in case you can also share a link on the matter.

Thanks!

Re: Driving with a Canadian Licence

Go in person to the Strassenverkersamt (DMV) and they will replace your Canadian driver's license with a Swiss one. You will get a sticker on the back of your Canadian DL stating it's an invalid DL in Switzerland. Some get a hole punched in theirs, some get the sticker. It took me about 30 min, longer if their systems are down (yes, that happened), but then there will be mailing involved, so you don't have to go twice.

Please see: [Drivers licence] Conversion and questions, Mark II

Any non EU/EEC license (plus a few other countries) are normally returned with a removable sticker OR upon request destroyed/invalidated.
