https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

Folks, hello -

Hopefully posted in the right place -

Does anyone have experience of:

https://www.airportparking.ch/

Looking for a long term stay, but not sure if they will take my wheels and use it for a bank job or ram raid.....(have heard horror stories in the UK about this kind of service with the employees ragging the cars......and everyone has seen Ferris Bueller, right?)

Appreciate any feedback that you may have had with the service and if your car has come back in one piece (i.e. no dents, nicks, scratches) - I am very protective of my car !

Thanks in adv.

May have used them in the past, but most recently went with http://www.parkvia.com who were excellent, and didn't even make me pay the extra day when I fsked up about our return date (overnight flight).

Yes, and we've done this a few times with different 'valet parking' operators without any problems.

You are listed as living in Basel, so this is very relevant for you.
...
Well of course if one can fly from Basel instead it's going to be the preferred option, and in the past, when they used to link Crossair flights to Swissair to do the hop across to Zurich, or allow you to check in for the Zuerich flight at SBB Basel, I would sometimes do that, but those days are long gone, and now for many destinations parking at ZRH is the only viable option.

The option you describe involve spending half a day more at each end and frankly life is to short for that.

I checked the fares, from Zurich HBHf to Basel Airport, the return fare with half fare card, for one adult is at least SFr 74,80 second class, the fuel cost is not calculated, but with one passenger you should be in profit.
You are joking, aren't you? The regular return fare for that journey in 2nd class with a Halbtax card is CHF 37.40. If you could be bothered to book separate rail and bus tickets, you could get the rail component (Zürich HB to Basel SBB) for around CHF 11.00 each way (CHF 11.60 on a random date, 30.05.2016).

You've quoted the full 2nd class fare without a Halbtax.

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

You are right, I quoted Fr 74,80 for 2 people, which was my journey, I have cut and paste and edited as I am having trouble with the editor.

I have deleted this and started a new thread for Basel airport parking.

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

Thanks to everyone that has replied -

For the record -

1) Train is not an option at all - (will not bore anyone to death but it is actually more inconvenient and not practical for this journey).

2) Parking refers to ZRH rather than BSL

3) have got BSL sorted and down to a tee - 6 years of experience and a bit of savvy which means that it costs half of what it does in the Swiss sector.

Again, thanks for the replies, mind cleared and RTG.

We have car cover via AXA, so alas the TCS deal is a no-go - thanks for the suggestion.

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

I have seen one of the drop off parking companies at Zurich airport ragging numerous cars around a large gravel car park more times than I can imagine.

Most memorable was a red vinyl wrapped cayenne going sideways over a small wooden bollard and a satisfying crunch. Said car was quickly parked up and dilbert making off sharpish

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

I have used airportparking at least 20 times. No complaints are all, the service is good and convenient.

Also used park n fly, and other valet type service, but I prefer airport parking because your car is in P3 when you arrive, whereas with the valet, sometimes I've had to wait (well, never more than 20 minutes), and a couple of times, they took us by bus to the parking lot which takes even more time.

I also use www.autobahnhof.ch. They are just next door. Their operating hours are longer than airportparking so you are less likely to have the out of hours surcharge. Both have been fine for me.

Autobahnhof also offer three types of parking: outdoors, park house and individual box. With Autobahnhof you pay when you collect (airportparking is up front) and, in my experience Autobahnhof is also friendlier. Prices are pretty much the same. If you are within operating hours airportparking is generally cheaper. If not Autobanhof is often cheaper.

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

I have used them about 4 times and save for my last experience about 3 weeks it was a good one.

For the last experience we picked up our car as usual and drove home and then discovered a large scratch/dent over our back wheel which looked to have been caused by them when moving the car from their offsite parking. I then asked for their insurance details and we entered into a lengthy exchange whereby they claimed that it could have been a trolley at the airport (clearly wasn't) and pointed to their terms and conditions absolving themselves of all responsibility/liability (which they never provided).

Summary - airportparking is great when it works and surprisingly good value by Swiss standards but if it goes wrong (i.e. damage to the car) be prepared for a fight.

As I park my car at the airport a lot I took the "parking damage" option with my car insurance. On my plan at least that has no deductible and has proved valuable in more than one case.

Re: https://www.airportparking.ch - experience of service??

Thank you all for helping me with this topic - much appreciated.

Fortunately, we do have the parking damage option on our car insurance, so I would hope that any damage would get fixed on that.

I think that I will use airportparking.ch purely because it is located in P3, ZRH -
