Short term parking in Zurich outskirts

I am a new member living in the Netherlands.

I want just to come one night in oktober (schoolbreak here) to Zurich for pleasure and a little buisiness.

I am affraid to drive with my car into Zurich (a big MB 280S of 1982) so I hope it is possible to park my car in a small village West if Zurich and just take the S-bahn to the City Centre. Any tips which city has a free parking possibility after a walk of max 1 km are welkom.
I could also take a (foldable) bike with me and bike max 3-4 km to centre At least if foreighn bikes may be used in Zurich (no number/tax plates)

Normally hotels outside a big city are cheaper and I would take a hotel with free parking (public or hotel) outside the City.
But strange enouf the cheapest hotels I find in booking sites are all close (NE from) to downtown and actually that is the best to go out eating at night but not good to drive to/to park.

Most Zurich city hotels ask 15-20 CHF for an overnight parking which in my country would be almost good for a night at a campingplace.
But the cheapest hotels have no parking place.
So I need to get a more expensive hotel only for that stupid car ...

Thats why I like to get info about a small village with free parking close to a railwaystation (S-Bahn) west of Zurich.

I am Dutch. We are used here to have a beer served for 3CHF and a plate of dinnerfood for 18-25CHF but then again petrol (benzin) of 2.70 CHF per liter.
