Tow Hook and Homologation

Hi All,

I bought a tow hook for a Lexus GS300 from a Swiss website and I asked them for the homologation papers to be mounted on a swiss car. They have sent me a TUV certification for the hook. Is this ok?

If i mount the hook myself will I still have to have it checked by a garage? (reason i ask is because i work at an engineering company with a huge workshop and can do everything here)

Also, on the grey paper it doesnt specify any towing weight for the car just *****. Is this still ok? will a rating be given once it gets checked?
I noticed it was the same on my 330xi Touring which used to have a tow hook so I know it can be mounted.

I'm guessing after everything is fitted I simply need to book an appointment at the MFK for test?

Any help or info is appreciated.
Ben

Re: Tow Hook and Homologation

Normally tuv is not accepted, is it really a swiss company or a German company with a swiss presence?

Ben,

Go along to the MFK station with the TUV papers and verify that they will accept that for your car. If they say "yes" then go ahead and (have it) fitted.

Hey Ben, I'm just wondering how it went? Did you mount the hook? Did TUV get accepted? I'm looking at getting a used Westfalia hook with e20 certification, and have almost exactly the same questions as you did.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Tow Hook and Homologation

You will need to get it checked and certified on the grey card by the service des autos
