Europcar (what) Privilege Card

I have used Euorpcar rental over the last 20 years or so on and off. Earlier this year I saw you could apply for a 'Privilege Club' card. These are free and seemed to have some advantages. One I discovered earlier this year at Heathrow when there was no waiting or forms to fill on arrival.

Now I wanted to bood a car for the day from Birmingham international and I checked out the prices on my iPad where there are no cookies. As a non-Privilege member I can rent a car for £23.76 a day.

But as a Privilege Club member it costs more than 4 times more. I checked with there chat service and it's true. But I get "email offers" and "cheaper upgrades". Unbelievable...

Re: Europcar (what) Privilege Card

I have had several of those cards, only used them to not to have to show credentials when picking up the car. Tested it again recently with my LH/Sixt card and hey ho, a lot more expensive than when booking "normally"

Re: Europcar (what) Privilege Card

It's the same with Avis, which is why they won't let you apply a booking made without your card to the card later.

Annoying, deceptive, and totally destructive of any brand loyalty I might have possessed....

@AbFab
Were the two bookings for the same date? Wasn't one the end of June or August, the other end of July? Not too clear on my phone though.

One seems to end of July and the other end of August. Hardly a scientific control

Re: Europcar (what) Privilege Card

Still, it is my experience with those cards when trying to book for the exact same dates.

If you compare May to July, jep, big difference, I am always paying a lot more for the rental in Scotland when booking July/August.....

The August booking without a privilege card is the exact same amount that Abfab has shown above. The July booking is about £4 more expensive.

Who'd have thought car rental is different prices at different times of the year? :s

The booking dates are 1 month apart, so it's an irrelevant comparison. InterRent gives you a Europcar car for a lower price. Millage is limited to about 100 miles a day. Same story with Keddy. I usually get cars in the £8-12 range at Birmingham Airport.
Don't use Green Car rental, they will charge you for the slightest scratch, unlike Euopcar group of companies.

Good eye, Longbyt. One is for July (left) and the other for August (right).
