New app officially launched today.

But, iPhone 4 running iOS 7 is not compatible. Old App still on phone but no longer works. Will open but crashes when you try to do anything.

No way to contact SBB to report problem either.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

One thing missing from the new app is the direct access to the "ticket shop".

I often need to buy an "Anschlussticket" for which I only need to know the number of zones. I hope they will add that feature back in.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

well the location thing works now. With the SBB APP it takes 7 actions to get a " Anschlussbillette". With ZVV APP it takes 1 action!

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

The App only works for iOS 9 and above. Lots of devices left out.

The old app apparently is intentionally disabled 'for security reasons'. So I can no longer buy tickets or check schedules.

What the hell are they thinking?

A contact form sent from their website is being ignored.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

An update for the new app OS9 and higher on Apple Store. Says "this update fixes various bugs.

No update for OS8 and below users but the old app miraculously works again. Seems to do everything it used to, including buying tickets.

In theory one should be able to downgrade to the old app. That can be a little complicated though, and (I think) needs to be done on a linked desktop. It does mean finding the file that was moved to the trash when you first upgraded. It may still be there, depending on your settings.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

The old app worked perfectly well. I hate it when app designers insist that we need flashy twiddlets and whizzbangs and just implement a thousand new points of failure.

KISS.

I agree 100%. BUT. I've checked that I have the latest (Android) version of the app and it doesn't really seem any different from the old one. It just works quite intuitively and simply, with the same process flow as before.

Screen layout isn't ideal on a large screen (12.2" tablet ), but unchanged from before afaict, and once I'd found where the required field were it was no problem to use.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

Well I contacted SBB about the Anschlussbillette and they said they dont have a shortcut in the app. Which seems to be a big negative as such a feature would be often used.

What do you think?
The good part:
- It offers the ticket for the chosen connection. No longer guessing which of the several offered is the right one.
- It allows you to enter the zones of existing tickets to get a direct quote for extension tickets.

The inconvenient part:
- You cannot select one of your existing and valid tickets as the base tickets for extension calculation.

The bad part:
- Entering existing zones does not always work
-No bike tickets anymore (or did not found them)

The rip-off part:
- The app seems not to be aware of rule 3.57 of Tarif 651.8 :
Inside ZVV you do not have pay for more than 8 zones. Once you have 8 zones (Regular + Extension) you can use the whole ZVV network.
Means if you already have a regular ticket with 5 ZVV zones, the app should only offer 3 zone extensions or lower.

Not sure what your problem is - if I select, for example, a Basel to Zurich journey, it takes just one additional selection to get the day pass for Zurich (or vice versa) added to the fare. All very simple and straightforward.

This is, after all, an SBB app, so it seems perfectly reasonable to me that it's optimised for customers actually planning an SBB journey. I'd likely be confused and possibly annoyed if it started to get all specific about Zurich (or any other city) zones only relevant to people that are already in the city.

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

A day pass has nothing to do with connection ticket and if I want to go to for example to Schwerzenbach then I go with SBB!( journey) With a connection ticket for 1-2 Zones 24 hours valid.

That is not an extension ticket.
For example. I travel a lot Baden Zurich. So I have a monthly pass for that journey. Once every week I have to go to Kloten. For that I need a 1-2 Zone extension. The simplest would be to give me a one click access to a 1-2 Zone extension tickets in my favorites. But no, I have to go to the timetable select start and end, select the extension option, and then select the appropriate extension. And double check if the calculation was right and I am not overcharged.

The ZVV app gives a connection ticket in around one click. Very handy

Re: Anyone tried the new SBB app?

I'm not sure where they're trying to draw the boundaries with this new app.

It would be great if it was for all public transport, but it seems that one still needs the local transport app(s) for tickets outside of most simple point-to-point connections. That makes sense, as otherwise the SBB app would be an unwieldy mess of local transport options and rules, but it's a shame nonetheless.
