A bus departure time was incorrect in the app, but was correct on the SBB website. I've removed and reinstalled the app and now it is correct. Fine, but I missed my connection...

the google maps widget now does what the sbb app used to do in the notification screen (ie check your location and advise on the times of the nearest station)

Not just the SBB app, but also the website: the Metro line M1 in Lausanne is now "BUS 1". Will be confusing for those who don't know the town until it gets fixed.

Hi - I linked my SwissPass (halb tax card) to my SBB app. Does anyone know if I have to still carry around my SwissPass physical red card when a ticket checker comes onto a tram/train or is having the SwissPass linked to the SBB app sufficient enough?

When I buy my tickets through the app, it's automatically got the half price.
But bring your red half price card as well. When I got checked, they asked me for my card as well. Which I always bring with me, so it's good.
I never forget to bring it so far, so I don't know what will happens if you don't have it when they ask.

Now I wonder if it also works the other way round that if I present my Swisspass he can see my actual tickets. Technically it should be possible.

if you bought a local ticket (ZVV 110 zone etc) you do need to carry it.
i was fined 5CHF for not having it, even though clearly its in the SBB system.
Zurich is lagging behind the rest of switzerland in this regard

As I was struggling to find my Swiss Pass after presenting the inspector with a mobile phone image of my ticket, he already said it wasn't necessary and showed me my own picture together with a stack of details from his mobile phone. All that must be stored locally on each 'service' phone of the SBB workers. I hope it is all well protected against misuse because there must be a picture there of 50% of the Swiss population.

Is it just my phone, or has the option to buy a first class upgrade disappeared from the ticket options?
ETA seems I can buy one from Pfäffikon to Zurich, but not vice versa

ETA seems I can buy one from Pfäffikon to Zurich, but not vice versa | | | | | It would be called "point to point class upgrade" (assuming you are using the English user interface).
I've tried it and couldn't for the specific route you mentioned (for various times), but had no problem for other routes. Where you choose a route where there is no first class service, then that option is also hidden.

Thanks. I tried again today and it doesn’t work. It used to be there as I use it a couple of times a month if second is busy or I feel like some extra space. I’ve submitted a support ticket. I’ll report back when I get an answer.

Weird. On the S25, upgrades are still available to Ziegelbrucke and Glarus (zvv Ostwind, 10.40 chf) but not for Wädi or Pfäffikon.
Must be a zvv ticketing issue.

Otherwise the nimble fingered amongst us would simply not buy a first class season ticket and normally travel second class. However, if the going gets rough, for example no seats left in the second class compartment, hundreds of school children with skis crashing about etc. etc. they'd simply conjure up a smartphone and buy their way out of this temporary but uncomfortable situation, and thereby potentially causing "genuine" first class travelers a problem by cluttering up "their" carriages and taking "their" seats.
