I'm looking to rent a car for 4 week.
is there a catch with autoeurope.ch since the prices there are half the prices on all other site I have looked at?

Auto Europe is a reliable company with good customer service, in my experience.
There are many car rental companies and consolidators, and it's normal that the prices vary wildly from one to another.

Have a look at www.rentalcars.com and buy an excess car hire insurance cover policy at UK World wide insurance company http://www.worldwideinsurance.co.uk/...izhMytcz4o5qPA
and you will save a lot of money.

+1 for Auto Europe. I have used the UK site to book my rentals for well over a decade. Always cheap, no major issues.
Only thing to note - check the small print of the individual deal includes what you want. The cheapest deal may have an extra cost not shown, or not include something you expected. Example; An additional driver. On some deals they a free - or sometimes, XX chf a day. And the rate varies.
Auto Europe's USP used to be additional driver included, until a few years back they quietly dropped it. Which I only found out about when picking up my 1 month rental... ouch!
My last booking I think I had two options, same kind of car, both 5 EUR a day for the week - but for one deal an extra driver was 10 Eur a day, the other was a maximum 30 Eur per rental.
Regards
Ian

You have to wonder why there is an extra charge for a second driver. The second driver might be a better insurance risk, and there can never be two drivers of one car...

I have rented a car for the weekend & exceeded 1000km, then charged those KM's to my employer
Companies like to make additional money, hiring a GPS will cost more than buying a GPS, additional items are a profit centre

Pack the child's stuff in with it and you don't pay extra.
As for Nav - its often cheaper to upgrade to a car with one fitted as standard than pay the extra.

1 -The employees behind the counter are trained to upsell the insurance products to make more money. It's really nice to avoid that harassment and just have them acknowledge you're covered.
2 - The employees that check the cars upon return seem to be trained to nitpick every scratch and speck of dirt. When they see on the form that you've got coverage, they don't bother to nitpick and just send you on your way. |
