Toll Roads in Switzerland

I've done some searches and I haven't found an answer to my question yet - so if this is already answered please direct me....

I'm new to Switzerland,
I plan to do some driving coming up this month (January).
Google say's my route has a toll - I want to find out if there is a toll and possibly how much it is.

I'm traveling from Zurich to Château-d’Œx

I do plan on traveling other routes soon but this one is for sure coming up.
So where can I find out what roads have a toll and how much that is.

OH - and yes, I do know about the 40chf fee/sticker for all cars on the road.

Re: Toll Roads in Switzerland

The "Toll Road" on sat nav refers to the Autobahns and the 40 CHF sticker.

Re: Toll Roads in Switzerland

That sticker, aka vignette is the toll. Once affixed to your windshield/screen you can drive on Swiss motorways without additional charge. Drive without it you are subject to a 100 franc fine plus have to buy a vignette on the spot.

Re: Toll Roads in Switzerland

this is very helpful, thank you.
Everytime my Nav system (or google maps) say's there are tolls I keep expecting to find a cost and can't.

Thank you all.

Re: Toll Roads in Switzerland

The only toll road which makes any sense on this particular journey are the Autobahn (speed limit 120km/h) and Autostrasse (speed limit 100 km/h).

This are the roads where you need the CHF 40 sticker. That is all toll you should pay.
(There is one other toll road. But it makes totally no sense do use it. Is surely closed in the winter. And I doubt Goolgle Maps will even route over it)

All other roads are toll free and have a maximum speedlimit of 80 km/h ex-urban, and 50km/h urban. Off course these speedlimts are only until something else is posted.

Also adapt and lower speed based on road conditions, weather, traffic, and windyness of the road. There are no speed signs before a curve. It is up to you to know how fast you can safely go.

I have never come across any toll anywhere in Switzerland. If there is anywhere where you have to pay extra it will likely be well signposted as it would be so unusual.

The Grand St. Bernard tunnel between CH and IT has a toll, but it's not on a motorway.

Road tunnels (as opposed to car-train tunnels) that start and end in CH, yes (St. Bernard tunnel into Italy, for example has a charge).

I did a quick google to double check my post, and found an interesting exception.

No not every road tunnel that starts and ends in Switzerland is free.
A notable exemption is the Tunnel Munt La Schera. From the Offenpass Road towards Livigno. Both portals and the whole tunnel are in Switzerland.

It's not for all cars on the road, just those that use the toll roads.
