Paris Anti-Pollution Stickers Fines Begin 30 Jan 2017

Just been hearing about this on UK tv. I don't know if Swiss drivers need to display these stickers, but it's something worth noting for anyone planning to drive to Paris.

Edit: I'm finding various reports of when the fines will begin to be imposed, so this needs to be double checked if you could be affected.

Not only Paris. Also the Grenoble Metropolitan Region and Lyon.
Good overview (non official) https://www.crit-air.fr/en.html

Semi official but in German: http://de.france.fr/de/info/umweltzonen-frankreich

Official and in French only so far https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/
It is expected that the above website will be available in other languages soon.
Foreign vehicles can order the stickers starting from February 1st 2017.
Foreign vehicles will need the stickers starting from April 1st 2017 if they whish to drive into an anti-pollution protection zone.

Nothing yet on the their website, I have asked the Swiss TCS for information:
Wir haben Ihrer Nachricht die folgende Referenz-Nummer zugeteilt: CIC-1143926.

As with the German anti-pollution sticker, you will need to present the French office
with the car registration document, and depending on the engine, the relevant sticker
can be issued.

The TCS can issue German stickers for Swiss cars. So I expect they will soon be able to issue French stickers.
I think Castro was fined by the Lörrach police when he parked his car in a low pollution zone at night.

Any reliable and official source that you must go physically at some place? So far it look like all can be done online.

Just for the record: I love my car and I drive it everywhere. Except Paris. It's expensive to drive there, it's expensive to park it there and it's not fun driving through it to say the least. Take the TGV. Direct connection from Zurich.

Re: Paris Anti-Pollution Stickers Fines Begin 30 Jan 2017

It's crazy how bad it is.. My wife and i drove to Lyon for a day trip last Saturday and we saw signs that said something pollution and everything was hazy. We were like that's weird how foggy it is and wondered it was smog.. and it was! Thanks for giving more info on the restrictions! We are doing a long weekend trip to Paris next weekend for her b-day and we should be good to go since we have a car with swiss plates!

And the VW cars get which sticker?

On who's maesurements are they based?
Will they measure the pollution of my car at the border - as I don't even have to do those tests anymore apparently?

Okaaaay ... and where would I have that? Or do I have to get it now somewhere? And will it then be valid for the rest of the cars life?

Re: Paris Anti-Pollution Stickers Fines Begin 30 Jan 2017

Dear Mr. Sbrinz,

We refer to your inquiry from January 25, 2017 and inform you that you can find the information about fine particulate plaques in France in the links below (in English and French). However, this scheme only applies to foreign motorists from April 2017 in force but can be ordered after February.

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/demande-ext/cgu

On 1 July 2016, Paris introduced an environmental zone to reduce pollution by exhaust gases. This measure also affects foreign travellers (eg cars, motorcycles, buses, mobile homes).

The environmental conditions in detail

The environmental zone includes the urban area within the city motorway (boulevard périphérique). The city motorway ring itself is not part of the environmental zone. In this zone all motor vehicles with initial registration before 1 January 1997 and motorcycles with an initial registration before 1 June 1999 are taboo at certain times. These times are: All weekdays (Monday to Friday) between 08:00 and 20:00. The driving ban does not apply at night, on weekends and on public holidays.

Other cities also want environmental zones

Paris is the first French city to introduce an environmental zone. A total of 25 other French cities (including Bordeaux and Strasbourg) will follow in the coming months and years. It is to be assumed that the Paris plaques are also valid in other cities. The German environmental campaigns, on the other hand, are not recognized in France

We thank you for your trust and are at your disposal at all times.

With kind regards

Touring Club Switzerland

Re: Paris Anti-Pollution Stickers Fines Begin 30 Jan 2017

Just back from a week in France including 24-hour overnight stay in Lyon (wouldn't bother going back).

Didn't buy a sticker. Didn't see any mention of them. Didn't notice any cars displaying them. Nobody cares...
