Audi A1 repair question

Hi All,

Just wanted to find out if this is is standard. So, we have an Audi A1 with approx. 80K on the clock (4 years old). It is an Automatic btw.

We brought it in for a Service which is one of the bigger ones so CHF 600 is quoted (sounds ok). But they also have told us the clutch Needs to be replaced (CHF 2000 for clutch and CHF 900 for work) and also the fuel pipe Needs to be replaced (CHF 600 work and cost together) due to a vibrating noise... Do These items normally Need to be replaced considering the Age of the vehicle?

The car is just out of warranty so we will have to pay ourselves. But is there anything else you would recommend? Its almost a quarter of the Price of what we paid for it...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

not sure about the issue but I wouldn't pay 2900 CHF for a gearbox when it is not broken.

Clutches need replacing based on (ab)use - a lot of city driving will mean lots of (ab)use - meaning it will need replacing sooner.

Re: Audi A1 repair question

For this kind of sum I would definitely get a second opinion.

The costs are in line with Swiss prices (which means they are atrocious), but even if anything needed done I would find somewhere to do it cheaper (across the border)

Re: Audi A1 repair question

So they've quoted the service and repais at CHF3200 (plus tax) for a car that appears to be running fine and is used daily?

Personally I'd get it back with no work done, or just the service at most.
Then as others have said, take it elsewhere or just run it or px it.

The Quote is more like CHF 4100, so CHF 600 for Service, CHF 600 fuel pipe, and CHF 2900 for clutch.

Thanks, I will probably do that. Seemed a Little steep.

Oh and I just spoke to them now as we had mentioned a whistling noise in the climate control System. They quoted an additional CHF 100 for a Software update which should take away this noise... Sounds a bit odd...

Re: Audi A1 repair question

Please do share which AMAG it is?

Good service I´ve had from Piena Corsa in Grüningen, they are authorized to services Audis. Maybe worth a try even if it is a bit further?
