Copper brake pipes and stainless hoses on cars/vans.

Can someone confirm if copper brake pipes are allowed as replacements for steel brake pipes in Switzerland?

Also, are braided brake hoses allowed as replacements?

Thanks!

Kunifer is ok, on a Veteran.

Some inspectors object to braided flex hoses.

Each Canton inspects it's own cars, using similar rules, but not exactly the same. However every Canton will accept an inspection "pass" from another Canton.

You need to speak to the testers in your area and find out what is acceptable to them. Your local garage might also know what is locally acceptable.

Re: Copper brake pipes and stainless hoses on cars/vans.

Am wanting to use the copper pipes on a 90s car that is not on a veteran plate. Could be one of 4 cantons the car is tested in (JU, ZG, ZH or SZ), most likely JU...

Will give the stainless hoses a miss if they are potentially a topic to pick up on.

Copper, or Cunifer?
How much of a beater is the car?
How tricked out is the car?

If it's otherwise in good original condition, and you just have new Cunifer lines with all the right fittings installed in a workmanlike manner, then they won't bat an eye (You can send a damaged brake line to Derendinger and they will deliver an exact duplicate in Cunifer in 24 h.)

If it's on it's last legs, or you've ducktaped a whale tail on the boot, and installed Big Dubs, and other Bling, then they'll probably object.

Braided hoses need papers. Order them from CH, you can find decent prices not so far from German ones. if you don't have papers, they will raise eyebrows so I would refrain...
