Mobility Car Parking Accident

Hello Everyone..
Trying to find out what Can I expect in the near future in terms of Costs and How to mitigate it..

I took a Mobility Minivan on rent today and Bumped it on a pillar in IKEA Dietlikon Parking.

The front bumper received a dent in the bottom front corner and the pillar left a mark by eroding some paint from the bumber.
No other damage to any other parts.

I called up Mobility immediately and informed them about the event. The agent was polite and informed me nicely that if needed the management team will get back to me.

I have Libality reduction from Mobility but fall under the New Driver Category .

Wondering If I can claim the max cost of 800CHF from My 3rd Party Insurance with AXA.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to read through the post.

Looking forward to suggestions

Thanks Again..

Re: Mobility Car Parking Accident

Only 800 CHF? I hope for you that it is that amount and not more. Car repairs can be fairly expensive here.

3rd party insurance? You mean liability insurance (Haftpflicht?)

Yes, I mean Haftpflicht. I checked my Private Liability Insurance document and I dont have the Option to insure Drving Other's Vehicle.
I will anyway call the Insurance once I get the Bill..

Thanks again.

Re: Mobility Car Parking Accident

Ouch. They'll most likely replace the bumper, depending on car make maybe 800-1500, add another 300-500 for Arbeit. Those are Swiss dealer rates, of course there are cheaper routes but not much you can do as Mobility will have it repaired their way (as it should be) and simply send you the bill.

Re: Mobility Car Parking Accident

I'm sure it must be clearly stated in the Mobility contract what your excess is in case of accident. This looks like CHF2000 worth, but I very much doubt you will have to pay more than the excess...

Re: Mobility Car Parking Accident

I had a similar incident in a rental car (Hertz) before and I had the standard 'Collision Damage Waiver' excess (there was an option to pay a bit more to reduce the excess).

This excess was 1000CHF which I paid, and would be the maximum to pay in case of any damage.

Just re-read your post and saw you got the liability reduction... so I think you'll be stuck paying that excess

Mobility's Haftungsreduktion actually gives you a max cost of 300 CHF, not 800

...unless you're a new driver/learner

Even if you took that option, standard AXA policies exclude rental cars from coverage. Some credit cards may cover your excess if you've paid with the card. Otherwise I think you're looking at having to pay your full 800 Fr excess

There's 500 Fr extra for new drivers, that's where the total of 800 comes from

Just to be clear, new drivers as Neulenker (younger than 25 years old or less than 2 years driving license), not as new mobility members... but yes may be the case of OP

Just to Update,
Received a bill of CHF 800 for the accident.

CHF 300 as deductible
CHF 500 as Additional deductible for New Drivers.

Thanks again to all for responding to my post.
