ah yes, and of course replace the things that aren't legal here, but are standard on cars elsewhere, eg, braided brake hoses

anyone is free to get the parts tested, approved and certified, then you can charge others for the certificates

jeez... thats scary its a little bit rusty yeah, but its not thaaat bad, plus if I change the exhaust it will be much better since its the main piece that has rust...

There is any shop that take care of the rust on cars around?
If the car needs body/paintwork then you'd best get that done before you bring it here.

some people <cough> just have OEM parts sitting in the garage that only get put on at MFK time then swapped back out again afterwards.

certified parts aren't hard to get, they just cost way more then in the UK, you can still mod your car but you'll just need to do it properly.

That seems like a light at the end of the tunnel

They do the same in here, but yeah, that big wall from importing it, it just got improved by Trump as if my 350 was made in mexico xD

Hi, thanks how can I check how much tax would i have to pay on the car per year on Basel?
Here: http://www.polizei.bs.ch/verkehr/mot...errechner.html

Have a look at the pdf file at: http://www.polizei.bs.ch/dms/polizei...gkontrolle.pdf

I'd say 761~786 CHF per year.

Allegedly there are even some garages <cough> that swap parts at MFK time.

(KOs, Speedos, even suspension parts...)

oh and the export certificate (eu1 iirc) from the uk or spain, otherwise they will charge you the higher import tax

you have the certificate of conformity for the car too?
Hey BigBlue, after this you got me thinking, whats exactly the export certificate (eu1 iirc) that you mention there? When I got it, they just gave me the recipt and the half of the V5, as standard... These would be something that you need to ask to Uk? (asking in case I import a car from germany or other place later )

About the CoC as far as I know you just need to go to the dealer and then ask for it

Thank you guys for all your help!!! really appreciate it, when I move there we should go for some drinks and talk about cars

yes when you export it out of the the uk you get the export cert

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EUR.1_...nt_certificate

the downside is they will take the plates away so you'd need to trailer the car here

re the CoC, yes a dealer should be able to get one for you, some charge quite a bit of the privilege

you seem dead set on importing a car?? imported cars are marked as such on the V5 equivalent, what you 'save' importing one you'll lose when you come to sell it
