Tax and insurance for Tesla model 3

I'm thinking to reserve Tesla model 3, and wonder how much tax and insurance is needed for a car like that. Does anyone know?

I reckon there will be some people at the Basel STVA that would know. Some of them might even had put it on a website. I also reckon that some clever person will have put together some sort of online tool allowing individuals to search through a huge amount of information to find the answer.

Unless we know your personnal circumstances, how you plan to finance the car, where you drive the car, if the car is garaged at hoem and at work and your insurance requirements it really is not possible to answer your question correctly.

Base yourself on Chf 5'000.-- and expect a certain amount back as a rebate.

Re: Tax and insurance for Tesla model 3

You can have a look at the tax in Zurich on this link
http://www.stva.zh.ch/internet/siche...VArechner.html

No clue if it is comparable but might give you an indication.

Zurich Connect has an online insurance calculator, just tip in your data and it will give you a cost estimate.

You should really consider getting a new insurance if you estimate a Tesla to cost 5k

Road tax calculator for Canton Basel Stadt:
http://www.polizei.bs.ch/verkehr/mot...errechner.html

Insurance is mostly based on cars value. A Tesla 3 will cost around CHF 40'000.
Get a quote for a Audi A4 1.4 TFSI, Stickshift, Base Line Modell and you will have a ball park figure.

I didn't, you should learn to read !

I said base on Chf 5k and expect a rebate of some sorts but unless we know a few details it is impossible to estimate the cost of insurance.

Juast as one example, if you finance the car via cash or a bank loan, the insurance will be about Chf 300-500 per year cheaper than if you buy it under a lease.

A 19 year old Kosovarian, which leases will pay around CHF 3000 alone for 3rd party liability with Zurich Connect (Based on the above mentioned Audi A4). This goes up to CHF 6389 all inclusive (Full casco, Gross negligence protection, etc.).

better compare it with a Tesla Model S as this is a similar, though more expensive car.
i checked for myself and premiums are actually relatively cheap.

Such a reply makes sense instead of other people who retardedly needs to go directly to questioning ability to read.

And yes you are right. I probably did the (presumptuous) assumption that there are few 18 year old people from Kosovo asking for Tesla advice here on the forum.
A 18 Year old Afghan (arbitrarily selected as it was the first nationality in the drop-down) can get a Model S100D for around 5000 though.

kari. has no particular reputation at present
Re: Tax and insurance for Tesla model 3

I have 4 friends in the USA who have Teslas and love them. One big family bought their 2nd.

From my side I love the rebellion of Tesla. They have at least forced us to have a serious discussion / movement (Norway, China) about alternatives to the gas car.

They make me happy every time I see one.

In the meantime OP seem to have moved away from Basel to either Zurich or Schwyz.

Be aware: Road traffic tax is a canton thing and each canton has it own formula how to derive from weight, power, displacement, CO2 emission, and other factors the applicable tax.

For example Zurich uses displacement, weight, and CO2 emission, whereas Schwyz uses power and weight.

For the Tesla 3 this results in a tax of CHF 0 for Zurich (electric cars have no displacement, but also §3 Verkehrsabgabengesetz canton Zurich) on the other hand a whooping CHF ~750 for Schwyz
