| | Annual 4 Zone Travel Card: In any direction?
Would someone be able to clarify something for me?
We are looking at purchasing an ZVV Annual Travel card to cover 4 Zones, as we will be living in Zürich Zone 110 and working in Zone 142.
My question is; will this ticket enable me to travel 4 zones in any direction from Zone 110? Or, when purchasing the Annual Travel Card, will I need to specify exactly which 4 zones I would like the card to be valid for?
It seems like a lot of money to pay if all we can do is get to work and back - yet can't explore the city in any other direction.
Apologies if this is a bit of a naive question. I just can seem to find a straight answer (in English) online.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
MyMy

Here the ZVV site in English - should cover all your questions: http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/home.html |

You have to choose 4 fixed zones

Thanks for the Super fast response. Much appreciated.
In that case perhaps it's worth spending the extra CHF700 for the year and buying a travel card for all zones? Otherwise we won't be doing much exploring in our first year in Zürich! |

Bear in mind, though, that if you have SBB Half-fare tickets, you get 50% off long-distance trains, and a slightly lesser reduction on the ZVV single and day tickets.
Best to use both www.zvv.ch and www.sbb.ch to compare about 10 or 20 journeys, with and without a Half-fare card, and then you'll have a fairly good idea what the match is, for you.

Mind, I think (and I trust to be corrected if wrong) you will still need to pay the Nachtzuschlag for Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday nights. AFAIK there's no way around this.

But for youths till 24 and students till 28 with selected ZKB accounts the night surcharge is free: https://www.zkb.ch/de/pr/pk/zahlen-s...chwaermer.html | Quote: | | | | | Yes, perhaps it might. Bear in mind, though, that if you have SBB Half-fare tickets, you get 50% off long-distance trains, and a slightly lesser reduction on the ZVV single and day tickets on short distance tickets. | | | | | For example in the ZVV network any (regular, 24h pass, zone upgrade, class upgrade) 3 zone or more ticket gets the full 50% reduction. | Quote: | | | | | In that case perhaps it's worth spending the extra CHF700 for the year and buying a travel card for all zones? Once you have 8 Zones (Regular plus extension combined) you can travel the whole ZVV area.
A 4 zone extension valid for 24h cost CHF 8.80 with half fare card. http://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/abos-und-ti...tab-tab_0.html
