Car Hire, Geneva to Basel

Hi, sorry if this seems a strange question, and I've tried searches to no avail. If I hire a Swiss registered car from Geneva and drop off in the Swiss sector at Basel am I likely to encounter any problems if I cross the border with France to get to the Airport? Thanks in advance for any help.

Where are you resident? Geneva is hiring only Swiss cars at the moment & not bothered about taking them to the EU for EU residents. During the ski season this was a no go. For info there is no border on the Swiss side of the airport, even through it is in France.

Hi and thanks, I should have said. UK Resident/UK passport. The only point I anticipate crossing the French border is between Basel city and the airport. I will be travelling from Geneva into the Bernese Oberland, then Uri, then up to Basel a couple of days later. Hopefully shouldn't be a problem.

You don't pass any border driving to the Swiss side of the airport.

Thanks, it's a while since I did the journey. Google maps produces a warning saying the journey crosses the border. I'll just wing it, cheers anyway.

There's some little crosses across the road as you leave the roundabout on the airport approach road, but for customs purposes, you're still in Switzerland.
