Yep.

And if you notice someone having trouble and you ask "Do you need some help?" about 90% of the time they react as if the streets are full of mass murderers pretending to be mechanics.

And the other 10%, once you've fixed it, then ask "Sind Sie Automech?". and they look at you funny when you say "Nein, Philosoph."

Nuthin as queer as folk.

Ironically, working on my bikes is how I became friendly with the most unfriendly person in our building (an elderly SwissGerman in Ticino).
