A1 Autoroute

Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone could either shed some light or calm my cousin down. She (stupidly yes) was speeding on the A1 autoroute right in front of the radar that is between Nyon and Coppet, direction Geneva. It was saturday during the day (during the euro lol) and she said she did not see anything flash, but was doing about 147 - 148 (yes not smart - I already yelled at her!). SHe has had a couple of little speeding fines before which she has paid right away, but nothing major. My questions are:

Do these radars flash or not? sometimes I see them flashing and sometimes not - I don't understand anymore.... are they always working or do they turn them off? I would imagine during the Euro with all the foreigners there must have been a lot of speeding. Does she risk losing her liscense? This is what really worries her as she needs it for her job. I have already told her off, but she is so so worried and keeps bringing it up all the time. After how long a time period can she assume she was lucky?

Any light you can shed would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Re: A1 Autoroute

How do speeding fines work in Switzerland will tell you about all you want to know - including situations where you will lose or won't lose your licence. It is possible that the newest speed camera don't flash - or that you cousin who didn't notice the speedo, didn't notice the flash either...

These radars do not function 100% of the time...the flashes are very visible so it could well be that your cousin was lucky and that particular one was not active when she passed it.
In my experience, when one does get flashed, the fine comes within a couple of weeks.
