Leasing cars

Hi,

I'm not sure what section to post this in so maybe it can be moved by the admin.

We are unfortunately having to leave Switzerland and head back to the U.K. For the winter, the problem is we leased 2 cars last year with the idea that we would be here longer than the 4 years the contract is for.

We are looking to give the leasing to someone who is looking at doing it and save them money for a deposit etc at the start of the leasing.

If we cancel the leasing we must pay a fine, myself is 4000CHF and my partner 2000CHF. If we transfer the leasing to another name it will only cost us 500CHF each which is the better option.

We both have mini coopers, mine is a 2015 Mini Cooper S with 45,000km and my partners is a 2016 Mini downtown with 10,000KM, both are near brand new and in perfect condition.

I can upload pictures if there is interest.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section again but I'm not sure where to post it.

Regards, Joe

That sounds very cheap to get out of the contracts, how much deposit did you put down?

Re: Leasing cars

As in the fine or transfer costs? We both put 2,000CHF deposit down And we have had the cars for 14months now, with our Leasings they gave us an A4 paper with a table from 1-48months and the costs of you were to cancel after which ever month.

The fine as your well behind the depreciation curve with such a small deposit.
Even paying someone 2k to take over the contract is a bad deal for the purchaser as the cars could be bought cheaper from a garage & leased for less.

Re: Leasing cars

I could buy this 20k with zero down payment, with 36 months lease and end payment of 7.8k for under 400 a month. It comes from a main dealer with 2 years warranty.

Can you beat it? If not, why would someone take your lease over?

Re: Leasing cars

45k on the clock in 2 years and you can hand it back with only a 4k fine??? plus the low monthly payments and low deposit?????

Errrrmmmm I think you need to go back to the leasing company and triple check your figures, and if they are real, pay them the 4k and run outta there

😂 Well I've spoken to BMW twice and Ive also got an A4 piece of paper which tells you exactly how much of a fine you will pay should you cancel it from month 1 all the way to month 48..

but have you specifically asked them how much to hand it back, after telling them how many KM are now on it?

ETA how much where the cars when you leased them? what spec are they cooper or cooper s, what extras?? just doing a quick calculation in my head the figures don't add up
