If I want to travel with bicycle from Uster to Rapperswil using ZVV S-Bahn do I need to buy additional ticket for the bicycle?

Unless it is a folding one folded, in which case it is 'hand luggage' and goes for free. Half priceTicket* is necessary for a bike. If you do a long trip, check out the price compared to the bike day tickets which might come cheaper even for a single journey.
More info here.
* Edit: on looking at the site more carefully, it looks as if you need a full ticket for the bike if you don't have a half-price card (Swiss Pass). I've had the half-price thing for ever and a day so I didn't know!

Pay 99,90 chf for a bag, and your bike has a lifetime of free travelling.
(great solution, unless carrying the bag is to much of a burden)
Hmm.. Guess that is the method to get my mtb up Uetli without sweating for an hour, such a bag in a backpack is no burden when going downhill.. https://www.sbb-shop.ch/pub/index.ph...=106&l=fr&l=de

- 1-day bike pass full fare
- Storage reservation
However no: "Short-distance bike ticket reduced fare" (I have Halbtax card)

You just buy a normal half fare ticket.......not bike-specific

So only half fare if you have a half-tax card or are a child, or the special case that you already have a travelcard (GA, zone). https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-an...e-tickets.html | This user would like to thank newtoswitz for this useful post:

Up to Uetliberg costs another CHF 100, even if in a bag. https://szu.ch/service-information/velotransporte.html | This user would like to thank aSwissInTheUS for this useful post:

Back to sweating it is..

I'm more lost now then when I started researching this.....
Here's my question --- these are just examples.
#1
* I want to start my bike ride at the Zoo (Zurich Zoo)
* I live in Zurich
* I will take the tram to the zoo and do my ride, and ride home.
-- How do I purchase a bike ticket
-- What type of bike ticket do I purchase
#2
* I want to start my bike ride in Zug
* I live in Zurich
* I will take the train to Zug and ride my bike back home (in Zurich)
-- How do I purchase a bike ticket
-- What type of bike ticket do I purchase
A- where do I purchase the bike ticket
B- What bike ticket do I purchase
C- I have a Half price card, AND, I use the SBB mobile app on my phone
-- I only see an option to purchase a full day bike ticket
D- HOW do I purchase a 2nd, 2nd class train ticket on my phone - if that's what I do.

#1 and #2 Simple, either a 2nd class ticket (half fare if you have a half fare card or GA), for the distance you transport the bike OR a SBB Bicycle Day pass which is CHF 13 half fare or CHF 20 normal price.
A - At counter, ticket machine, online, mobile app (at least the day pass should be possible with the app).
B - See above. You have to decide which option is cheaper in a particular situation.
C - That is not a question, so this is not an answer.
D - Just try it and see whats happening if you buy two tickets on your name for the same distance. If all fails see A. https://www.sbb.ch/en/abos-billette/...obillette.html https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-servic...-with-you.html https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/travelcard...transport.html
and also rules regarding rush hour https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/travelcard...-bicycles.html

Thank you this is very helpful information.
Few additional questions.
1)
I read this on one of the sites - what does it mean, how far is short? I guess my question is - at what point do I need to transfer from a 2nd-same-destination ticket, to a full day bike ticket? Or - is it just based on "best price"
-- Short-distance bike ticket reduced fare
-- This page: https://www.sbb.ch/en/abos-billette/...obillette.html
2)
Is it required I use a Bike car on the train?
I was on a train at one time where there was NO bike car, doe that mean I'm not allowed to bring my bike on that train?

Gonna hijack this thread for a question: If I have a regular MTB, but I take off the wheels, package it, does it count as hand luggage?
(I'm considering bringing my bike on the airplane with me instead of buying one here)

In particular question 1) is answered in B | Quote: | | | | B - See above. You have to decide which option is cheaper in a particular situation. | | | | | Regarding 2)
You are allowed to bring the bike in the train when it is allowed, see restrictions here: https://www.zvv.ch/zvv/en/travelcard...-bicycles.html https://www.sbb.ch/en/station-servic...-with-you.html |

In summary: it's cheaper to simply transport your bicycle in your car.
