Is TeilKasko also car-age-dependent?

Considering that the coverage received through Vollkasko depends on the age of the car, does this apply to the Teilkasko?

To be clear, let's say if I want to replace a damaged windshield resulted from hail for a car that is 5 years old with Teilkasko with 200 CHF as the deductible. Let's also say that according to the insurance the car value after 5 years is 45% of the new value. If the new windshield costs 2000 CHF, does the insurance company pay 2000 - 200 = 1800 CHF or they pay 1800 * 0.45 = 810 CHF?

Thanks for the advice!

Both should cover whatever is insured up to the value of the car minus the deductible. I tbh have never heard of an insurance that says: oh your car is 5 years old so we only pay half of your new bumper.

That is exactly what I mean: the value of the car, but I guess the insurance calculates that as the current value of the car. For this reason, they pay a fraction of the repair cost. I have seen a post here someone complaining about this fact but I cannot find it anymore! Am I missing something?

Not sure. This is what I found in the AVB of Zurich.

"...Wird das Fahrzeug durch ein versichertes Ereignis beschädigt, zahlt Zurich die Kosteneiner dem Zustand und Alter des Fahrzeuges angemessenen Reparatur."

I was referring to the windshield/windows, not to repairs in general.

Damage is assessed and a repair cost is determined.

If that cost is close to or over the current value of the car, then the car is considered a total loss (aka "totalled"), as it makes little to no sense to repair it.

If that cost is less than the level above, then the FULL cost is covered by the insurance, less any deductible that may apply per the contract.

Sometimes the insurance or the garage might suggest a cheaper form of repair, e.g. repair a cracked bumper instead of buying a new one, or not getting OEM parts to bring the cost down.

But whatever the cost is, it will be covered in full (less deductibles).

They pay for the full repair, but will never pay more than the current value of the car since a normal car insurance is ment for damage reimbursement but not for profit. (Unless insured for newly value which does cost even more then just full)

And this info is all in the terms and conditions of the insurance.
