| | Wingly - flight sharing Wingly
I patiently explained the concept to my wife and she continued to look blank, why would you want to hitch a ride in a small, noisy airplane??
Exactly, its brilliant especially when you're learning to fly yourself.
There are private pilots offering rides all over Europe, some of them excursions and others round trips to neighbouring countries. The concept is that you share in some of the costs of the flight (since a Private Pilot's Licence doesn't allow you to carry passengers for profit).
I've just booked a seat on a Piper Arrow sightseeing flight of Southern Germany with a guy who just passed in May
Here is a nice looking ride with a more experienced pilot out of Birrfeld (ZH)

Yep, that sounds cool. How much does a king-size pack of Dramamine cost these days?
Passed in May? Castro, take a parachute-jump-lesson before, I would miss your fwp.

Think it's a great idea.
Took several really reasonably priced / in-fact cheap small seater plane, sea-plane and helicopter flights over Vancouver Island this year as part of a "this might be my last trip" experience, and wondered why that's not possible here.
Have flown also a few times in a twin-piper from Zürich to Ticino for dinner with a learning airline pilot that I possibly should have held onto in my early years here ;-).
It's an amazing experience to fly over the Alps on a good day in a small plane (especially when you have the control stick between taking-off and landing). Completely different to commercial flying.

Isn't this happening for ages already, I had a co-worker 20 years ago who did this to finance his own airtime.

I had friends who used to charter private flights from Paris to their home city because they had 4 kids and it ended up cheaper, quicker and more convenient than flying commercial as they used smaller airports and commercial airlines couldn't get there without changes etc.
I also think they were a bit pretentious as well.
The concept here is a bit different. But it looks fun for those who aren't frightened to death of the whole concept.
60E to take and air tour of Paris would be an amazing excursion.

Flying over the Alps with a newbie pilot in a general aviation low budget airplane because "maybe it is the last time I have such a chance" - I'll leave until I'll be ready to part with my life without a regret :-)
