Hi my neighbour has I formed me that they are scrapping the obligatory first aid course. Is this true?

Didn't even know there was such a thing! Am I supposed to be capable of saving someone?

I assume you mean the one for the driving licence? There was talk of scrapping it recently but it hasn't been implemented yet.
My son applied for his licence yesterday and he has to do the first aid course so I signed him up for one next week.

It's a part of the demands to be able to do the exams and achieve a license in this country, it's irrelevant if you exchange a foreign license to a Swiss one.

Some time ago there was an article (also a topic on EF) that research showed that it added little these days and a lot of people have forgotten how to handle and that everybody has a handy to call for professional help anyway, so might as well drop the demand.

Would not have expected a final decision so soon on this, and it strikes me as odd if they actually have.

I strongly doubt that.

By law you must try at least! It helps if you have a minimal clue - at least about the things you are NOT supposed to do

Re: First aid course being scrapped ?

There was a call for public opinion on the topic. Actually they want to overhaul the whole driving license process (like learners permit with 17). The public and all parties interested could submit their comments til October 26 2017.

The ASTRA will now go through all comments and the federal council will decide on a final version of the reformed legislation.

Now it is just wait and see.

Here the proposal https://www.admin.ch/ch/d/gg/pc/docu...Entwurf_de.pdf
and additional information https://www.admin.ch/ch/d/gg/pc/docu...Bericht_de.pdf

Only thing I've heard recently is that soon you can pass on the right! Maybe it'll be mandatory to take driving lessons in the states.

She saw an article about proposals, I am 100% certain nothing was decided on this a month ago.
