Helmet Laws re Trikes

Hi Everyone, I seem to be having trouble finding any laws regarding the wearing of Crash helmets whilst riding a trike ( Honda Goldwing GL1800). We are riding down to Switzerland in June and would really appreciate some info or a link to a gov website.

Re: Helmet Laws re Trikes

This website says (translated):

"According to the International Road Traffic Convention of 08.10.1968, which has been in effect for Switzerland since 11.12.1992, Switzerland recognizes the equipment regulations in force in the home state for foreign motor vehicles. As a result, foreign trike drivers who are required to wear helmets in their country must also wear them in Switzerland."

Re: Helmet Laws re Trikes

Sooo, we have conflicting answers...in the uk it is not mandatory to wear helmets, although I always do unless we are on some parade where it is marshalled.
Thanks for the fast responses! :🤷♂️

Re: Helmet Laws re Trikes

Passsengers on seats with seat belts do not need an helmet. All others need.

Thanks guys, will be wearing the helmets all the time!
We are basing ourselves around Luzern, is there any “must ride” roads within easy reach?

It is broken logic to conclude that, given the first quote, a driver who's not required to wear a helmet in his home country doesn't need to wear one here, either. There's no requirement to not wear a helmet thus there's no regulation for Switzerland to assume. Given that absence of home-country regulation Swiss regulations apply.

Well within easy reach are a few passes, with the triangle of Furkapass, Grimselpass and Sustenpass.
My favourite so far is the Klausenpass.

http://www.motofun.ch/paessekarte.html

Holderchäppeli, Glaubenbülen, Glaubenberg, Brünig, Schallenberg, the allready mentioned, Furka, Susten, Grimsel, St. Gotthard, Nufenen, Lukmanier, Oberalp, Klausen, Pragel (Weekdays Only).

Along Northside of Lake Thun and Brienz. Also the Road from Lucerne-Küssnacht-Viznau-Brunnen along Lake Lucerne.

I do not know how much time you have and how many rides you like to plan. But I know and rode more or less everything on the above map. Not all are real fun and suitable for a trike.
