First "Fahrzeugprufung" - What should I expect ?
 

I have my first ever "Fahrzeugprufung" coming up for my 6 year old BMW 3 Series Tourer.

The car is mechanically sound - at least according to the service 2000 Km ago.

But what should I expect ? And do I need to do anything to prepare?

I was thinking of giving the car inside and out- a quick clean and taking any leaves from the bonnet. But how fussy fussy are they in Zurich ? I'm suspecting very fussy....

Better check the website, a quick clean most likely is not enough, better make that a thorough one

if the car is in good condition: just clean it and also clean the engine bay.

Motor cleaning is a must. Also it wont hurt to check the lights. Otherwise plan for the worse and hope for the best!

Put it through a car wash that does the underbody (Unterboden). They want to be able to see everything without having to wipe it clean.

Your dealer can prep the car and even take the car through the inspection, at least mine will.

Thats expensive & will cost 250chf plus, the test is 56chf IIRC, so failing & returning for a free retest. For minor items, signing you will fix it is enough.

If you regularly wash your car with the Unterboden option, one more go through the car wash place plus cleaning the engine bay with a damp towel should be enough.

As the car was serviced 2000km ago, I would just check all exterior lights (including license plate).
