New way of allocating airmiles (Swiss)

SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings are introducing a sales-based system for the calculation of award miles for flight bookings. For flights booked from 12 March 2018 onwards, the airfare (ticket price + surcharges levied by the Miles & More partner airline1) will form the new basis for the calculation.

For you, as a Miles & More member with frequent flyer status, it is the airline with which you are flying that is the decisive factor. For all flights operated by SWISS, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada, LOT Polish Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Adria Airlines and Air Dolomiti the following calculation will apply in the future: airfare x 6 = number of award miles earned. As a Frequent Traveller, Senator or HON Circle Member, you´ll benefit from an Executive Bonus of 50 % while the number of award miles earned by Miles & More members without frequent flyer status corresponds to four times the airfaire.

On flights operated by Eurowings, Brussels Airlines and other Miles & More partner airlines
1), the award miles will be calculated as follows: airfare x 5 = number of award miles earned.

Please note: this new system does not apply to status, select and HON Circle miles. These will continue to be awarded in the usual way in accordance with the present system. All the privileges associated with your frequent flyer status will also remain unchanged.

By making this change now our intention is to ensure the long-term future of award miles allocation. This new system will also help us to avoid having to make further adjustments to the way award miles are allocated in the future.

Or just credit your miles to a different Star Alliance membership scheme where the rewards are better
