Re: Engine swap: how the MFK would work?

Sorry to re-open this old discussion, but what would happen if I changed on a Honda the engine for another Honda engine? (K20 Swaps for example)

As there are a lot of EG (classic Honda Civics) that could serve as a beautiful car projects...

In that case you have to take it to the MFK or you need to leave your wallet at the Homologation and then take it to the MFK?

Thanks!
The same engine, as originally fitted to that car is no big deal (They just report that in the car's papers. Similarly a different engine, but one which was originally available for that chassis.

But a more powerful engine? That's going to need some special testing - a guy I know put a 2.5l Alfa in a chassis which was originally only a 1750 - he ended up paying a garage something in the order of 7K to put the car through the MFK.

Wow... So he did the so called "Homolgation" then?

What a shame, it was a cool idea to buy an old Honda and do an engine swap

An oxymoron if I ever heard one.

Re: Engine swap: how the MFK would work?

It really depends on the "expert" (why are they called expert?) doing the mfk.

If everything's done nicely and looks safe, and the guy likes your car and/or has a nice day, you'll pass. If not, try a different mfk location haha.

My dad has an engine swapped beetle and he passed, but probably only because the expert had a beetle himself

This is very much true.

Also depends on the canton.
