Something like this one - https://www.costco.com/3-Ton-Profess...100222458.html

Re: Where to buy a decent 3000kg trolley jack?

you could try Jumbo - they have a better selection of auto/moto stuff than the other DIY/home stores.

i know they have them at the Jumbo near me, in Emmen, Luzern. But they call that a 'Jumbo Maximo' - and the one in Basel is a 'Jumbo Compact' so maybe they'd have to order it..

It's crazy there's no Pep Boys or Napa equivalent here in CH.

You've just inspired me to do the swap over to summer wheels.

Re: Where to buy a decent 3000kg trolley jack?

If you want a cheap one, you can get one with 35-50 CHF from the DIY stores (Jumbo, Coop Bau+Hobby, Migros DoIT) which are ok but annoying as they releave pressure with a stupid fiddly knob.
If you don't mind spending a bit more, get one that comes down with either a step or by spinning the shaft - they're usually higher quality too.

Hornbach:

The German branches, but not the Swiss ones, of Bauhaus also have 3t.

Overkill, IMO. For how often it gets used, and for having to store the thing, cheap is better unless you're a professional. I used a 2 ton jack from Jumbo for a few years, maxed out on a Fiat Ducato high top van. No problems. In retrospect, for that van, i could have gotten by with a bottle jack - even cheaper and smaller to store.

I have a relatively cheap 3T one I bought at Jumbo some years ago, pressure relieved by twisting the shaft using the end of the handle as a 'key'. Never had an issue with it. I've also had a couple of 2T jacks, or the chf19.99 type, which worked in the same way.

I only got the 3T one because it gives a much greater under-body clearance, that was needed for my wife's car.

I've had a Halfords one for over twenty years. Never had a problem with it but if I'm doing anything more than changing wheels, I'll always use axle stands.

Re: Where to buy a decent 3000kg trolley jack?

Do you really need 3 To?

Most of the 3 T weekend warrior ones aren't terribly well made.

If you really need that capacity, and you don't want to spend a fortune, then keep an eye on Ricardo for garages closing up.

And yes, you need axle stands.
