Re: BMW Retrofits and Tax Return

OP, if you really want to go BMW-OEM route, my suggestion is to find a BMW garage that is close to the border.

If they have regular experience with Swiss customers wanting to reclaim DE tax, they know what to do. As what happened to me, the garage I chose offered the email/bank-transfer option. If the garage don't have this option and want you to drive back to them, then at least it is not a long way back.

this is my second year on L and yes its for one year. Las year I bought something in gemand and went to the custom. The officer said I have L permit, it does not work with L
Stupid Customs Officer. If your residency is outside the EU he has to stamp it.

For peace of mind take your GF with you, get her name on the bill, and let her get the stamp. Driving back to Stuttgart to get the name changed if the customs officer is neither knowledgeable nor does come to reason is more hassle.

LOL sorry op, you're mental even considering spending that kind of wedge on mk1 x1, go on ebay and buy an aftermarket reversing camera and screen, and aftermarket parking sensors, even a child can fit them.

really, I can't get my head round why you would even consider spending 2k euro on a car thats worth bugger all, and it won't increase the value a single chf.

You are right, I will not invest this car.. I will probably sell it and buy the same model or different model..

@maypril, yes the german bmw garage that was BMW Gottstein I asked actually something else but their price was high.

No investing is the right choice. Selling and buying a car for a few sensors and a camera is nevertheless equally stupid. Any used car salesman in CH wants to make a few thousand CHF on any transaction, so you will obviously lose just as much money as if youd give it to the BMW guys.

Try duck taping a squeaky rubber chicken to your front bumber instead. Will be much cheaper and reversible...
