| | Re: How to (physically) change vignette sticker
I once hired a car for a trip to Hungary via Austria and Slovenia. Both Austria and Slovenia require vignettes and the guy in the hire company said that I was to remove these before returning the vehicle. And this despite both vignettes still having validity and thus possibly adding value for future customers. But anyway, I digress.
I discovered you can buy little plastic scrapers. They look like the ones you would use for ice but are much smaller. I think I payed less than 2 euros at a service station in Austria. Scraping off the vignettes was no problem. It didn't take me more than a minute and no traces were left behind.

The glue is organic based, so paraffin or petrol or WD40 fetches it off easily.

And I still don't have one for 2021
My petrol station is unmanned, lost and lonely tucked away in the middle of this nowhere that I live in and I hate going to post offices. Plus it's corona times, I only follow my well trod paths. Will that do, if I get caught without one? | This user groans at curley for this post: | |

At Fr. 9.00 postage, the 2021 vignette weighs between 2 and 10 kilos. I'm not sure I want to put that on my windscreen permanently.

test on your windshield first, but medicinal benzene (Reinigungs-Benzin) also works.

Bought one this AM at the local commune/pseudo post office.
Used my Swiss knife to remove the old one, left the old glue.

An option if your neighbor, friend, other vehicle, also needs one (you might forward it using A post ).

I've always used a hair-dryer. They come off quite nicely, indeed last year's came off in one piece. Still this will be the last one I have to remove. Switzerland is moving out of the stone age next year and we'll have an e-vignette.

A car dealer once told me a trick of applying a tiny dab of hand cream or Vaseline before affixing the vignette. Not sure if that was so they could easily, and most likely illegally transfer it between cars |

(And wouldn't it slide down the glass on a hot summer day?)

(And wouldn't it slide down the glass on a hot summer day?) | | | | | I'm guessing a tiny blob smeared thinly across the vignette would be completely transparent. As for coming off in the heat, it has a melting point of between 40 and 70 degrees C (complex mix of hydrocarbons) so its unlikely to start dripping even on the warmest of days. And besides the vignette weighs next to nothing, if there was no glue it would static cling to the glass.
P.S I've not tried this so YMMV |

I always repeatedly stick the vignette against my clothing before the windscreen. And then I don't press too hard to remove it.
Good to hear the Swiss vignette may be electronic too from 2022; are they going to install camera systems like the Austrians to automatically catch offenders?

Took me two minutes to remove, clean and put new one on today. I don't know what is so difficult about this.
And the vignette is cool. I will rather have this than the electronic one. If they install cameras to check, it will be a crazy waste of money.

A vignette can be transferred by careful use if a hair dryer to loosen the glue.
