I am considering the following logic. Am i right or am I bananas ?
I want a family 4-wheel drive car for my wife. she drives mostly small runs to ferry kids around. I have another car which i use on the autoroute to work. its a diesel and relatively economical.
I can get a outlander PHEV for 25k for a 2015/16 model. this has a small electric range (50-60k) on electric then the petrol kicks in. but i wont do big journey's.
I also have a 400 volt circuit in my house which could be presented out the front. I am thinking this could give me fast charging. is this a correct assumption ?
If the above is correct my insurance shouldnt be too bad (not premium car) my road tax almost nothing and my fuel consumption almost nothing so the only pay would be insurance and small electrical cost.
Joking aside, is my plan correct here, or is there something fundamental I am missing (e.g. Outlander phev's battery are known to be ruined after 3 years etc).
thanks

1. I want a family 4-wheel drive car for my wife. she drives mostly small runs to ferry kids around. I have another car which i use on the autoroute to work. its a diesel and relatively economical.
2. I can get a outlander PHEV for 25k for a 2015/16 model. this has a small electric range (50-60k) on electric then the petrol kicks in. but i wont do big journey's.

thanks | | | | | 1. Tesla 3 fits the need as well, but it's less utilitarian than the Outlander PHEV. Both cars you could use on the motorways, the PHEV would not give you any range anxiety though. You can still squeeze 7l/100km in Outlander (cheaper fuel too).
2. You will almost never get that range from the Outlander in Switzerland, even in the 2019 model. As for 2015, you will need to take the battery degradation/Battery MAnagemet Unit overprotection leading to lowering battery capacity over time. That being said, Mitsubishi is an excellent vehicle to drive, especially on snowy mountain roads.
3. Correct. Providing a proper charger installation, you can top the battery from flat (not really flat but that's a technicality) in about 3.5 hours. In the high amp chademo charger (50A) you can charge the car from flat to 80% in about 30 minutes. You normally cannot install chademo charger at home though.
4. I pay 1.1k for full casco with bonus protection using Baloise company, but I have 2018 S-edition model. Tax, I pay 154 chf a year. Fuel, tank holds 42l so not too much but in the city, you can drive for thousands of km without refilling.

The Jaguar I-Pace is European Car of the Year 2019.
Surprising as it is not a really impressive car, because energy consumption is way higher than a comparable Tesla.

Quality interior, but as you say eats electricity as it's a big beast. Jaguar/Land Rover are not at the Geneva motor show this year...
Now the Model 3 is in Europe, my money is on that as car of the year 2020...

Boss has one.
I think it looks weird and I actually prefer the look of the Model X.
It's probably still a bit nicer on the inside and it does have a few more features and available extras than the Model X, notably a head-up display, and the Matrix LED lights.

| | Re: EV and PHEV corner | Quote: | | | | | Given how expensive the car is you should never be able to lock the car with the key in it. Can't do that with our Qashqai. | | | | | OK, so I'm a tad late to this thread.
Sure you can do that with your Qashqai.
Step 1: open boot (trunk).
Step 2: use key fob to lock all doors (includes boot/trunk).
Step 3: place key fob in boot/trunk.
Step 4: close boot/trunk.
Bonus step: smash window (no need to call police).
