Caught speeding... In France

So, the time has come, I've gotten my first speeding ticket. Oops... I honestly did not notice I was speeding. On the other hand, I am not sure I was the one driving

Fact is, I did apparently 117km/h on a 110km/h zone, in neighbouring France.

I got a very nice letter in French explaining I did something naughty, with some choices to pay/contest. Apart from paying the bill in the next 46 days, is there anything I should be concerned about? Is it enough to just pay and pretend this ever happened? Or do I need to contact the Monsieurs to make sure the payment went through?

P.S.: For those wondering: if I pay in time, it's 45 euros for doing 111km on a 110km/h zone (they deducted 6km/h).

Until the Swiss slap you with a three month ban, and costs.

I'm sure even the Swiss wouldn't slap me with a three month ban for doing 1 km/h over the speed limit

Re: Caught speeding... In France

I received a speeding ticket from France to my home address in Geneva.

The penalty was €60 euros. I paid within the deadline. The end.

That was 4 years ago.

Lucky you're still alive, the little you notice when moving in a car

First speeding-ticket since .... 2011?
Pay up, gloat about the 6 years of having been lucky.

And they will contact you if the payment doesn't go through, no worries there.
The French need every penny.

2005 I don't usually speed (cruise control is pretty cool), hence the reason I was a little surprised. But hey, I will wear this as a badge of honour, and remember to keep a closer eye on the speed limits (and on the people driving my car... considering the time stamp, there's a pretty high chance it was Mr. Helm... tssk tssk...)

Since my French is a little rusty I was just afraid there was some small step I was missing on the 4 pages they sent me. Last thing I need is having the French on my tail on my way to Portugal

I just got caught in Konstanz, DE. 89kmh in a 70kmh after deductions. 30 EUR. But what I found cool was they sent a link to my mug shot as the flash went off. It makes for interesting viewing. Boy was I shocked

Don’t forget. In France the speed limit on N-roads was reduced from 90 to 80 on 1 July.

Re: Caught speeding... In France

In France you can also request a digital image, I think it’s all automatic. I also got a fine a couple of years back on the A35 direction Strasbourg.

I would request it anyway just to be sure it’s you and you might as well get your monies worth! 😎

Re: Caught speeding... In France

What impressed me with France was the amount of paperwork involved. Three different departments, I think one dealing with the "measurement", second dealing with the "punishment" and finally "enforcement", all in a single enveloppe and all for the bargain price of 46€ (I was doing less than 10 km/hr over the limit).
I paid with my credit card over the net. I'm pretty sure that for minor infringements like that, there's no record.
Ironically, much at the same time, my better half received a minor speeding fine from the Bern police, just a single sheet of paper with a payment slip. Significantly less bureaucracy, but 120 CHFs.

Says it all, really :-). Here in France we may be complicated, but at least we're cheap .
