To be honest, I am glad the OP has not been let loose yet. The OP sounds like a real menace. Driving in a bus lane, not stopping at a stop and speeding in a built up area.... and then not actually accepting that these things could be showstoppers....

Not sure that with that attitude the psych analyst will give the green light either after two years.
The psych analyst already did: <<Then I went to Idiotentest, which I passed>>

While OP seems to have a strange attitude to how to perform in an exam - or is trolling - I just had somebody rolling over the stop-line in front of me the other day.
Fact is: If we took everybody who can't drive properly off the streets we would no longer have a traffic-jam-problem.

Agreed, but no need to make it easy for new members of the club!

I know I've repeated this many times before and the logic is probably flawed but I never speed in town because I would have a tough time dealing with seriously injuring (or worse, killing) someone and spending the rest of my life wondering if those 5 or 10 km/h over made the difference.
Cruise control makes no sense in towns. The only type of road you can get a 20CHF speeding fine is on the motorway and Autostrasse.

Cruise control doesn't, the option where the speed gets limited to a set max is great tho in urban areas with flashpoints.

Re: Failed 4th driving test - need to wait 2 years

An average car has something in the order of 30000 individual parts. One of the ways of keeping all of them attached to the car is to pay attention to things like speed limits and stop signs. This is a great way to save money, and prolong the use of the car.

It's also a great way to avoid running into or over other things, like children, or pets, or pedestrians.

Re: Failed 4th driving test - need to wait 2 years

This might be a dumb question because we are in Switzerland after all but presumably there will be admin costs associated with making an appeal which the OP would be liable for should she choose to go down that route?

Absolutely. And as she's gonna lose the case, she will pay.

I definitely don't think that I am. But looking around I don't think that many people driving the Swiss roads are better drivers than me.

Yea, the whole thing was sweet. As I mentioned on the Douche Bandit thread, we're seeing the burgeoning of a 21st century narrative art form.

I came to Switzerland 7 years ago and 2 years ago I decided to exchange my Russian driving license (which I've had for 9 years by now).

I took around 50 driving lessons with an instructor, but failed 3 practical exams every time for new reasons (did not have a full stop at the stop sign, was going too slow/too fast, did not notice the sign that the lane is for buses only, etc.)

Then I went to Idiotentest, which I passed

After that I had a 4th practical exam attempt which I failed as well. They took away my learner's driving license and I've got a paper from the police saying I'm not allowed to drive anything with an engine in it (!) for 2 years. In August 2020 I will be allowed to go to psychiatrist (costs 1600 CHF as far as I'm aware), and if he's fine (or rather I'm fine), can start the whole process of applying for the next learning license.
The letter also said that I can appeal.
Has anyone been in such situation before? Did you appeal and how did it go?

With my Russian driving license I can drive everywhere apart from Switzerland (which I do with pleasure several times a year wherever I travel to) and my instructor is happy with my driving too and says that he did not expect at all me not passing. So I feel that the whole situation is a bit unfair.
And what is exactly the logic behind keeping me away from the car for 2 years?

I'm extremely sad - any smart comments about trams are unwelcome.
Hey!
Have a question. How much you paid for idiotentest?
I need to take it as I failed my 3rd exam -I guess it was due to my nationality. But long story to tell -I am not sure If I will continue. If it is too expensive the fork it. I do not have to have it.
The system here is so strange
