Absolute BS. If that is your attitude then hopefully we will not be seeing you on the roads for the foreseeable future.
Oh really, so please name the country then, where +38 kph (I did receive today the final measurement of my speed) on expressway can land you in jail? And there is nothing to hope, the ban is maximum 3 month.

Start of the topic "well, let's hope they won't punish her to harsh, could also have been me"

At page 4 of the topic: "Hope they give her an extra long ban"

Not Switzerland. Unless you actually endangered the live of others, like speeding in a populated pedestrian zone.

But unlike Switzerland Norway has unconditional jail sentences for speeders.
http://www.speedingeurope.com/norway/

And to answer the question. The name of the country is United States of America. Specifically in the Old Dominion a.k.a Virginia where +20 mph (~32.2 km/h) or any speed over 80 mph (~128.8 km/h) can put you in the slammer.

PS: The ban is at least 3 months. But on the other hand not more 3 month is very likely.

Re: Einvernahme for excessive speeding +40 on autobahn

Just for the information: I went today to this Einvernahme, the police officer was polite and not stressing, only asked my identity details, address, work place, financial details. He asked two questions about the reasons of my speeding, and after telling "kein Antwort" he didn't insist further, just wrote in the protokol, that "I understand my rights, I answer nothing to the question of why I was speeding, I acknowledge the case is going to the court of St. Gallen" and that was it.

Well so far I see in Norway +38kph (which is my measured speed) on expressway is a fine of 1183 eur, which is even less of what I will get here, and jail starts there at measured speed over +55 kph. And I like this sentence kind of "On roads with a speed limit up to 100 km/h, the drivers can be fined when they drive more than 3 km/h over the limit. On roads with speed limits of 100 km/h or more, the margin of error is 3%. If you are lucky, police may apply a tolerance of 5–10 km/h, and up to 20–25 km/h on motorways – but only when driving conditions are favorable. The good news is that you will find no speed cameras where the speed limit is above 80 km/h" And concerning US, I had an impression they don't have mobile cameras hidden in each bush, but real trouble starts only when police officers start pursuing you at such speeds. But lucky us in Switzerland we can choose jail time instead of fines *clap* *clap*

Didn't understand to what question relates, but just in case my sentence was sarcastic, I see people here don't like much sarcasm in general.

Not chose. Only if you cannot pay. If you do not pay they will go the route of the Betreibung. If you have a job that is a simply as notifying your employer and part of your paycheck will be seized.

The good parts are: That we have no point system, means as long as you only get simple fines you are all clear. And also that the speeding has no influence on your car insurance premiums.

If that was your excess speed, then you won't go to jail, so don't worry about that. 3 months minimum ban and a big fine, yes!

My understanding is it is a criminal offence, and will go on your record for a certain period of time, but as a first offence will not effect your permit.

Have you ever been there?

Most speeding tickets that I've gotten over the years were in the US, from cops hiding behind a bush, and I haven't lived there in 33 years!

Yes a lot of times and really liked it there, and the drivers actually do drive there and don't start breaking in the middle of empty road, not to say on acceleration lane to A1, and I am sure they don't think 60kph is just about right speed on expressways either, but here everyone thinks breaking pedal has to be pressed at all times. So I don't mind to be rocket launched deported to the US if I had a chance, but as everyone likes it or not I am here and will continue driving here

The initial point made, that +45 kph on autobahn is not a criminal proceeding in other countries! traffic offense by default is not a criminal act! that is the difference of Switzerland with other countries
In the UK, speeding is a criminal act, but if dealt with administratively, it's not a criminal conviction. If it goes to court, then it will be a criminal conviction, which is recorded and will be disclosed with a CRB check... but it doesn't give you a criminal record.
