Why to the US?

Clearly, they'd send you home:

Tom

Ex US and now Swiss, hmmm no wonder you groan often and call other people posts as stupid crap, definitely some unresolved issues. Hope you are not that grumpy driver who breaks from 60 to 50 on autobahn if someone dares to honk

Nevertheless people in Russia actually like it in the USA and many dream to move there, international politics exists on its own...

Boy, oh sorry middle aged man, nothing funny at all, my intentions were serious to find out how to handle myself with the police, some people are really helpful and don't act like saints, others express, like you, their passive aggressiveness through the funny buttons on this forum and statements like "Grow up" "Suck it up" "You are going to jail", and the law of physics I still value higher, so I don't mind to apply some newton's third law here...but some earlier mentioned priests I guess expect more of "hit one cheek, turn the other one"

Re: Einvernahme for excessive speeding +40 on autobahn

So what exactly was the situation that forced you to speed so much? You mentioned one idiot. What was he doing? And were there no other options except speed?

When i need to overtake on the highway, i go max 120. 150 seems a bit too much

If that was your excess speed, then you won't go to jail, so don't worry about that. 3 months minimum ban and a big fine, yes!

My understanding is it is a criminal offence, and will go on your record for a certain period of time, but as a first offence will not effect your permit.
That's my understanding too....

If you exceed the speed limit by 25 km/h in built-up areas, 30 km/h out of built-up areas or by 35 km/h on the motorway, the offence will be entered into the register of criminal convictions and will be appear for a certain period on extracts from the register.

Re: Einvernahme for excessive speeding +40 on autobahn

There's an underlying agreement among the Swiss that speeders are punished harsher than those who commit petty crimes.

I know tons of "upstanding" citizens who've lost their license due to speeding. Join the crowd.

Re: Einvernahme for excessive speeding +40 on autobahn

I doubt any driver has never exceeded the speed limit. In my younger days i regularly did, but then again punishments were not so harsh. Today I try to keep to the limit but sometimes I don't notice the speed reduction, or accidently accelerate a bit too hard when overtaking. It's very easy to hit 140 for a few seconds and if you're unlucky - flash.

So I certainly don't don't condemn the OP and she's not looking to be preached at. She's done wrong, admitted that (to us at least) and is prepared to accept her punishment. No harm in getting advice from those who can give it and certainly no harm in trying to mitigate any punishment she may receive. I know on the two occasions I was banned, I'd have been delighted for any advice, but there were no forums for help then.

Just for the information: I went today to this Einvernahme, the police officer was polite and not stressing, only asked my identity details, address, work place, financial details.

One thing I've noticed about Switzerland is that when they relieve you of huge sums of money, they are usually very polite about it. Each year when I speak to the tax man, he smiles broadly as I hand over my cheque. I imagine they'll smile just as broadly when you hand over your fine.

Just for the information: I went today to this Einvernahme, the police officer was polite and not stressing, only asked my identity details, address, work place, financial details. He asked two questions about the reasons of my speeding, and after telling "kein Antwort" he didn't insist further, just wrote in the protokol, that "I understand my rights, I answer nothing to the question of why I was speeding, I acknowledge the case is going to the court of St. Gallen" and that was it.
Did he also put a cross in the box marked "Hanging Judge"?

To be honest I couldn't care less of their politeness and criminal records, the ban is what upsets me the most...I need a car to drive to work and from my home to work place there are 10 buses and 10 trains, such double time commute for 3 months looks like a nightmare to me

It might be possible to reduce the number of suspended days by having your supervisor/ or a senior executive write a letter to the court to explain that you need your driving license for business reasons. Although this was some years ago, this request resulted in a driving license suspension being reduced by 30 days, as I recall.
