Forgot to put my parking permit and got a parking ticket

So as the title says it, I forgot to put my parking permit on the car last night. Somehow remembered it tonight and of course, found a parking ticket for 40 CHF. Is there any way that I can object this fine?

No because cleverly they argue it was ‘improperly displayed’. Happened to us, too. Our permit was in the car but had slipped onto the floor. The warden came round again later in the weekend and fined us again. After that we found a rented space in a garage.

Is this a resident's permit to park in the blue zone?

I would pass by the police station with the permit and explain you forgot to place it. That sounds a naive thing to do yet depending on who you talk to ..... it could be handled like having a monthly ticket for the bus but left in the other purse that day.

As Sandgrounder said, you can't contest it (well you can but you won't succeed on that path) but you could use your charm. Never wasted even if not successful.

Likewise.

They could also argue that perhaps you lent it to someone.

Sorry, no way out, been there.

The license plate number of his car is written on it, so how could he lend it to someone else?

Re: Forgot to put my parking permit and got a parking ticket

Just to clarify, this is indeed the residential permit.

But here is a thought inspired by the season: Nobody gets ticketed when there is snow on the car and the permit is not visible, right? So why would forgetting to put it be such huge of a deal? I am assuming they have a database, where the info is anyway, right?

I don't have a parking permit any more so I can't check but I'm fairly sure it's somewhere in the small-print in the T&Cs that the onus is on the permit holder to display the permit correctly. You sign up for it, you take the responsibility.

Snow can be brushed aside, if needed, but a permit strategically half hidden behind a glove on the dashboard or some other reason for partially obscuring it could just be an accident or could be someone taking the piss.

To be fair, I don't think it's any better or worse than anywhere else. At least the parking monkeys don't wheel-clamp ambulances here.

Not necessarily. We forgot to put our blue disc in the window once and were ticketed. It was snowing, and the police had cleared the windscreens and issued tickets in plastic sleeves (so you can't say the ticket got wet and you couldn't read it). The police had those scraper/brush combos so they could sweep snow and scrape ice, just to be sure. Plenty of tickets issued that night.

There probably is a database of parking permits, but as Sandgrounder says it's the permit holder's job to display it properly.

The same happened to me. I went to my local Police station, they checked that I had paid my yearly parking fee before the fine was issued and they cancelled the 40-. fine.
Just common sense from them if you ask me.

It's not a huge deal. If it was a huge deal they would have towed the car. Accept that you made a mistake and pay the 40 CHF, we've all been there, some of us twice

If I had a thing like that I would simply tape it onto my windscreen, front bottom left, next to the vignette - out of sight for me, in clear view for any police-man.

CHF 40 is the price of a standard parking ticket. Nothing special or non-ordinary. Or in other words: it is the second smallest deal possible. The smallest is no ticket at all.

Happened to us as well, so I went to the Police office, they checked and cancelled the fine - she told me to take care, because they will do that only once a year !
