BMW is way late in this game. Their roadmap is basically Hybrid cars for the next few years, which is absolutely ridiculous IMO.
So are all other premium brands.

- Tesla is market leading in every segment
- Renault has an actual usable EV on the market (Zoé)
- Nissan has an even better usable EV on the market (Leaf)
- Hyundai has a fancy-looking compact SUV (Kona) and a sedan (Ioniq) on the market
- Kia has the same compact SUV in another chassis (Niro)

Meanwhile:
- VW ID is just a buzz, with proprietary (=no network) fast-charging
- BMW only has the i3 it had years ago and otherwise just doing 50km-hybrids
- Daimler is also a joke with "50-km hybrids"
- Audi has the étron but can't deliver it at scale
(- Volvo has just announced the CX40 electric)

Germany please wake up! I'd not be surprised if the German carmakers would be found guilty of consipiring to keep the EV developments blocked in order to give them some time to breathe and milk the ICE car market.

You should read the article about "Auslieferungschaos" at Tesla in Autobild from last week. Obviously, not all Tesla clients agree with you.

I have not read it, behind paywall, but the delivery was indeed chaotic. They are struggling to cope as they become the most sold car in CH. It will subside once the Model 3 deliveried level off.

Tesla offers, 7 days 1000km, return. You can return the car in that frame for FULL refund, unheard of anywhere else. I wonder why the unhappy people don't just do that.

I cancelled my reservation slot on Monday with the Tesla form.
Money was transferred back on Wednesday. No email, no phone calls, nothing.

Meanwhile Jaguar made a brave attempt with the iPace although its manufacture is outsourced to Austria. Now they will tool up in the UK for more electric Jags.

The problem is that there is over 100 years heritage of building ICE vehicles worldwide and a similar legacy with oil - rigs, tankers, refineries and filling stations. Nevertheless the revolution has started. On BBC Radio 4 this morning they were talking about 99.99% of new car sales being electric by 2030...

right, I forgot about that one. Still very luxury priced (80-120k) to keep the plebs away... (also to keep production to a reasonable low).

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

According to the EPA-rating, the iPace is also the most inefficient of all the "Long Range" EVs currently on the market.

AFAIK, the EPA range-rating is rather close to the "truth".

There was a handy chart somewhere that I can't find somewhere.

Tesla is still the king of efficiency, together with Hyundai - but Hyundai uses smaller batteries.

I don‘t know where this „Still miserable build quality“ is coming from. Do you own a Model 3 and have seen this??
I don't, no. My comment is based on Model S and X cars that I've seen at dealers and on the street. Perhaps it was a poor assumption, but I supposed that a cheaper Tesla would boast no better build quality than its big siblings.

apart from the fact that you seem to be just echoing certain forum entries and are apparently not an owner of a Model 3, the e-tron can't really be bought (Audi does not have the capacity to deliver enough batteries, surprise-surprise), neither is the Merc a 1:1 comparison.
The only comments I'm echoing are my own, and consistently, too.

The Audi dealer in Dreispitz, Basel offered me a demo e-tron or a new one; no apparent delivery issues. I didn't take one; I wish they came in Q7 size. Of course the Audi and the Merc aren't directly comparable to the Model 3; that was my point, they're much better built and more expensive.

Actually its not, nowadays, for Tesla Model 3 built this year. Give it a try 22Y to have a first hand view.
You're right, i need to check it out. That said, the Model 3 isn't really the type of car I'm after. The Model X would be if the build quality were to improve and the interior made a little less "American". It has a distinct size advantage over the e-offerings from Jaguar and Audi.

Makes a very very good point about Top Gear and other car reviews though rather lengthy with some questionable graphics:

The article doesn‘t make sense! And the headline, which you have quoted, is nonsense. Even with all the cheat software running a diesel creates emissions of some sort. They only have zero emissions when they are switched off...

Measured by an independent institute. And obviously it is possible not to produce any CO, NOx, Hydrocarbons or particles.

I have given up on buying a Tesla Model 3 because installing a charger in a Tiefgarage is too complicated and expensive. The reason for this is the uncertainty caused by high demand for electric cars and the village electricians are taking us for a ride.

Instead of buying a CHF 50K Tesla I will instead invest CHF 100K in Tesla stocks (bargain price at USD 200.00) and wait a year. Then I will cash in my Tesla stocks and buy a Model 3 for the profit. The local electrician will have competition by now and the price and complexity of charging at home will have gone down.

How does one buy stocks in Tesla in Switzerland? Go to your bank?
LOL, you find CHF 200 a share a bargain but don't even know how to purchase? It would probably be smarter to just buy your car.
