Read the article you linked. All it does it store the particulate matter and burn it at a later date when it needs to clean the filter at a MUCH higher concentration of dangerous particles than even the dirtiest air day (around 4x worse).

Your conclusion is either misleading or plain wrong. Sorry.

If you have 5 pools of dirty water, and I use a net to sift most of the crap out of each of them, then the 5 pools are slightly cleaner than before.

The problem is that at an indeterminate time in the future, I am going to dump all of the crap in your bottle of water, which you will HAVE to drink, no question.

In cases that the air is very clean (low amount of particles): there is barely an improvement.
In cases that the air is dirtier, air is being cleaned even taking the regeneration into account.

Works a bit like a vacuum cleaner actually, with a negative emission is quite some circumstances. It needs to be emptied sometimes but even taking that into account, it can clean the air.

You can throw away the filter / bag in a vacuum cleaner. Filters are not exchangeable in a diesel car, they are "self cleaning" i.e. wait for an idle period and burn off particulate.

You actually said it makes air cleaner. Again, this is not the case at all. Particulate matter is not the only byproduct of burning diesel, is it? How about CO, CO2 etc...This is certainly not contributing to cleaner air.

Suggesting particulates are the only component of clean air is a poor measure. Try and go for a walk on Mars, there are almost no particulates in the air there, but I doubt it would be particularly healthy for you.

The reality is that 97% of all cars sold today will be illegal in 20 years' time.

The is a truly massive disruption of probably today's largest industry - not only car manufacturing, but all the extras internal combustion engines need: from oil and oil filters, spark plugs, distributors, gearboxes, radiators, silencers etc etc. - the list is long. Electric vehicles use none of these and hardly even use brake pads due to regenerative braking.

There is servicing: what's to service with an EV? Very little. Then there is the drilling refining and distribution of oil (petrol/gas and diesel). Then all the ancillary business that rely on the motor industry - even the media who are supported by advertising. GM and Ford spend $billions on ads.

The disruption is going to be massive and quite understandably if your business is based on supplying, selling, servicing fossil-fueled vehicles then you are going to fight tooth and nail to keep your income stream intact.

So, expect to hear a lot more bad news about Tesla and expect to hear a lot more positive news about how diesel is good for you and how exhaust fumes will make you live longer.

Just back from a trip to the UK and have finally mastered long-distance electric travel.

Outward we made 4 charging stops but had learned by the return trip this could be cut to three.

Return trip:

Arrive Chunnel with 45 mins to spare before being called. Hook up to a Supercharger just outside the doors of the services. Charge to from 60% to 99% at a cost of CHF6.30.

Watch Netflix on the train on the Tesla’s screen while travelling under the channel. (Yes there is a data connection.)

Drive 331 kms to overnight stop in Reims.

Next morning charge at South Reims Autoroute Supercharger and get a coffee. Cost CHF15.35 (Charge not coffee)

Lunch after 177kms in Nancy at IBIS restaurant while charging CHF11.56.
Remaining 314kms home in Zurioberland with 20% charge left.

822kms at a cost of CHF33.20.

With the exception of 2 Model S taxis in Nancy, we were the only car at the Superchargers...

I was exactly in the same situation until yesterday and I just ordered one thanks to the 0.99 leasing rate. I have the same question as you do. Which accessories do the Tesla Model 3 owners here suggest to buy before we even get the car? I see a lot of advices on Youtube but I am not sure if there is an online shop in Switzerland to buy some Tesla accessories. Where do you buy your accessories? From Amazon?

I appreciate this is supposed to be a Model 3 thread, but I just picked up a second-hand Model S and am investigating a second set of winter wheels & tyres - any recommendations or have you all gone OEM?

To be honest, I bought the OEM winter tyres (Pirelli sottozero maybe, don't remember) and just keep them on all year round. I don't drive all that much, so maybe wouldn't work for you, but I find it is easier than having to deal with Euromaster's constant badgering to make an appointment with them to change.

Euromaster.ch appear to be Tesla‘s tyre partner in Switzerland...
