Not sure what cable to get.

Steckdose that will be installed in the Tiefgarage is of type NAS:

Tesla delivers cables with Schuko plug:

I doubt there is an adapter from Schuko to NAS.
Look at https://www.tesla.com/de_CH/support/charging-connectors
The Type 2 Cable should come as standard. That should plug into your Steckdose.

The type 2 cable will absolutely not be able to be put into that wall socket.

For sure Tesla will provide you with more than only a Schuko, with a schuko you'd take several days to charge your battery.

What you need to know is the exact wall socket you have (like 3x16A, 3x25A, 3x35A etc.. With that info you can go to Tesla and they can tell you exactly what you need in your situation.

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

Seems by default it comes with the Tesla mobile connector, top option below...

https://www.tesla.com/de_CH/support/charging-connectors

This comes by default with a 16A adapter, which should fit the red plug you linked earlier.

If the wall socket is also 3x16A yes, but we don't know for sure what the electrician installed. Might as well be a 3x25A, but this should be something which is very easy for him to find out.

EDIT: NVM, I jumped in late in the discussion, and just now read some more back. He very clearly speaks of a 3x16A and you are fully correct.

I guess the Typ-2 Cabel will fit

Costs a few hundred though.

I don't believe that Mennekes will fit in the red socket you showed above.

Genuinely, if you have the steckdose already, drive by a Tesla showroom or give them a call with the details of the socket and they will 100% be able to sort out which cable you need.

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

I have given up on buying a Tesla Model 3 because installing a charger in a Tiefgarage is too complicated and expensive. The reason for this is the uncertainty caused by high demand for electric cars and the village electricians are taking us for a ride.

Instead of buying a CHF 50K Tesla I will instead invest CHF 100K in Tesla stocks (bargain price at USD 200.00) and wait a year. Then I will cash in my Tesla stocks and buy a Model 3 for the profit. The local electrician will have competition by now and the price and complexity of charging at home will have gone down.

How does one buy stocks in Tesla in Switzerland? Go to your bank?

Sorry to hear this. I was piqued by your post to order mine.

At my place, the electricity company (EW Höfe) has a set-price to install the connector, 1990.- till year end. Could you check with your electricity supply company? Or I even found SBB to be dong something for a set price of 2048.- Check this link.

One last try?

This seems quite naive on the surface. If you do not know how to buy stocks, be careful what you are investing in. You seem certain that that Tesla stock is undervalued, and not only that, but that within a year they will yield enough profit to afford you a model 3 instead, so just a rise of 50% or so. I'm sure you also probably have assumed that the dollar will strengthen considerably in this time. Musk himself did recently say that Tesla only has enough money for ten months of liquidity and is currently implementing 'hardcore' cost cutting measures - i'm sure you already heard that though. Well, that doesnt sound too serious and I don't know if thats correlated to recent selloffs in the stock. Could be coincidence.

However, that does not mean you are not right, but I am just pointing out a risk or two. If you wish to proceed, yes, go to your bank and open a custody account and instruct them to open a USD account in that, to purchase the shares for you and charge you a commission. You could also set up a share dealing account with a company like Interactive Brokers. Easy enough to do.

Hey, by the way, Bitcoin looks undervalued too... have a look into it, you might be able to buy that Model 3 next week!

It's a shame Mr Tell didn't invest in Bitcoin a month ago. He'd have had his 50% return by now.

oh boy - you can't bear a couple grand for a charger on a 70k CHF car, but you are ready to put up 100k blindly for one of the most risky stocks ever? Logic: 404 not found

No, sorry, Bitcoin carries more risk (and even more potential reward!) as it was duly highlighted already.

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

I've just sold my ICE car, for which I've paid 12k and I incurred about 20k costs in amortization, garage rental and other servicing over 6 years. Came to approx. 300 CHF per month in the end plus the garage rental of 195 CHF a month ~= 500 a month.

The Model3 is still too expensive for me to buy outright, plus I don't have a socket in the garage I'm renting so it's a bit cumbersome to charge.

Leasing is quite attractive for the specs, though. Comes to less than 600 a month (+garage = 800 a month) on a 5-yr plan with 20k km/yr allowance. However, I can't get to lease something that I could pay as well, but am too cheap to shell out the cash for... it's a mindset thing.

So does someone want my reservation spot from April 2016 (is that still a thing?) at no premiums?

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

why does everybody want to buy Tesla stock. now I admit that I haven't looked deeply into the company, but my assumption is that the long term value of the stock is around zero. musk must be kicking himself for not raising more capital a while back when the stock price was much higher.

I believe there is no advantage in taking over a reservation as Tesla supply what they have, when they have it. Delivery is now about 4 weeks anyway...

There are a number of schools of thought on the shares:

1) In 8 to 10 years Tesla will have mopped up the self-driving market and Tesla owners will make money from having a taxi with ôut a driver. Tesla is so far ahead that legacy ICE makers collapse in disarray and Tesla shares reach $4000 (currently $185)

2) Tesla goes gloriously bust and the likes of Apple or Google snap them up. Under new hands shares climb.

3) Tesla goes gloriously bust and shares are worth zilch.

Scenario 3) is what the oil companies and ICE car makers are praying for.

I won't buy any until Trump stops arsing about imposing tariffs here there and everywhere...

I was under the impression that reservations like these on the M3 were not transferrable.
