Tesla Fan Boy Thread

So last August I was having a G&T on a balmy evening and had been talking to my next door neighbour (Swiss) who had a Model 3 on order for 2 years. I flicked through the Tesla website on my phone and ordered a Model 3 for myself using my credit card for the CHF1000 deposit.

Now I imagined that I too would be waiting until 2021 for delivery and thought no more about it. Then in December I was asked to configure my car. A little surprised by the timing - and the fact that only 4WD twin motor long range models were available I invested a further CHF2000.

Early January and I find myself in Australia. I get a call from a nice American lady based in Munich asking if I‘m OK for March delivery. „Why not“ I glibly answered.

So now I have watched every YouTube video on the car, ordered winter wheels and agreed a reasonable trade in for my current car. Insurance is lower than expected. I‘ve never bought a car on my phone before and dealt only by email and phone.

This is the brave new world of EVs kinda crazy, kinda exciting.

Model 3 dual motor, long range, red, enhanced Autopilot...

Well he seems to be at the same stage as me. I am praying his arrives first or it could be the end of a beautiful friendship.

He‘s installed a Tesla wall charger - I‘m relying on the usual 13amp plug...

This is good to know, I was put off by the long wait. Is this timeline usual now or are you a lucky lottery winner?

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

This is odd, I wandered down there the afternoon of the day the 3's were first available to order and put a deposit down and I've not had an invitation to configure, not that I'm bothered as I'm probably going to cancel it.

No winner. It seems there are about 20,000 forward orders for the Model 3 LHD in Europe and Tesla want the cash. Though many will want the cheaper version which is not yet available. They seem to be shipping them in by the 1000s.

Plenty of photos of M3s at Zeebrugge.

It took you a little longer than usual to come up with your typical mindless critique of anything posted. I do hope your excess bile is not making you seriously ill...

If I was a crazy billionaire I would want a much bigger pool and at least one volcano with hidden hideout in it.

not really, he got (iirc) 160 million or so out of paypal, he's a billionaire on paper from his tesla and spacex shareholdings, which is a bit moot as he couldn't really cash out of either.

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

Did you at least sit in the car ? Being tall, for me a lot of cars are just too small. Before ordering my Citroen I originally was looking at Suzuki and Toyota, but the seating position was just not right for me. So, do you know you're going to fit in the model 3 ?

Yes. I sat in one! I‘m kinda average and never had a problem with the last 30 or so cars I had...

Re: Tesla Model 3 Fan Boy Thread

I've been a Tesla fan since I first learned about the original roadster. After a 10 year gap in car ownership, I bought a Model S in Hong Kong (Tesla was the #1 selling car in Hong Kong in 2016 due to a waiver of first registration tax). The car was amazing and I vowed never to buy a gasoline powered car again. After resettling back in Switzerland, I was looking for a secondhand MS 100D but the M3 just called out to me (at least the massive price difference called out to me). I can't wait for mine to be delivered, hopefully within the next 2 weeks.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to a Porsche Taycan if I can ever convince my SO that we need a second car

Please refer to it as Model 3. M3 is a too legendary name for the small Tesla.

Ouch! It was actually supposed to be called Model E but Ford had rights to all "E" labels.
