Leased car - buy or return?

Hello everyone,

I have looked at a fair few horror stories about what happens when a leased car is returned to the dealer - huge repair bills, ugly surprises, etc.

I have an Audi A1 with low mileage and am soon to return it - or else buy it outright.

The car has only the most minor damages that would occur from having been driven, including a few marks on an alloy rim.

However, I am scared of being presented a bill for half the value of the car - or something horrible like that - when I return it. Obviously, I am not in a strong position to argue here, as it doesn't seem to be stacked in my favour

So, it has occurred to me to buy the car outright and then sell it on. My questions: are these horror stories of enormous bills being presented upon return true and typical? Is it difficult really to sell a car privately? Am I taking a big chance in buying it outright and selling it on?

Your thoughts are helpful and welcome..

Thanks!

Take it back to the dealer, see what they say and then make your decision

Re: Leased car - buy or return?

Does the lease contract give you the right to buy the car?

And yeah sure some of those horror stories are true, but also remember that happy customers don't place stories on the net and have nothing to talk about at parties.
