| | Trafic over speeding fine
Hello Everyone,
Hope you all are doing well.I got fine of 250 Chf for overspeeding in BL. As speed change from 80 to 50 and I was in the phase of transition and had little problem with AC to switch off as I just changed car and not familiar to all function. Radar captured with 64km so over speeding of 14km.
Now I want to know is there any way for appeal or any further recommendation to get further reduction as 250 Chf is quite huge.
Regards

Regards | | | | | I'd just pay it. If you tell them you were speeding because you were distracted due to a new car, they'll likely take a dim view. Next time check all the functions of the car before you set off?

Huge would be CHF 5000 and a three month ban, and maybe some time in jail.

LOL, that could be a fine on its own, just pay and forget about it.

Who cares about your rather weak excuse ?
If indeed this was the case, maybe you should be thankful you didn't mow down a group of kids whilst you were fiddling around.

Oh yes, please object, using exactly the argument you used here and tell us about the outcome.
Unless there is a real, obvious mistake objecting a simple fine is neither worth the time nor the money. It is pay and adapt your driving habits. If it is upheld in court you will have to pay court fees and they can even rise the fine. They will certainly not lower it.
Next time you have a problem with the A/C or some other controls pull over and stop the car at a safe place.

250CHF isn't that big for Switzerland...
Keep in mind that the larger fines are linked to income, so fines >1mio CHF have been known (for speeding).
Driving bans and (suspended) jail time are also common.
The only valid reason for contesting a fine are on the lines of - it wasn't you driving, or the signs were incorrect (eg around roadworks where a 100 sign wasn't removed).
Saying that you were distracted with the AC or otherwise were not in full control of the vehicle may lead to prosecution for dangerous driving.
Contesting will lead to court costs (I would guess you may get away with 700chf ish as the court would look at it, giggle/groan a bit, and then reject your appeal... so all within 5 minutes).
Easiest solution? Pay, get hurt by the size of the fine (it's there to make sure you don't forget ) and learn the lesson for next time.
EDIT: Oh and remember to slow down BEFORE the speed limit sign, not after. You should be able to see the sign from about 300m away, so by the time you reach/pass the sign, you should be going at the new/reduced speed
