SBB single train ticket validity

Is it correct that a single ticket for e.g. from Zug-Zurich which has a time period of 2hrs I can use it back and forth, multiple times before it expires and not just in one direction?

Re: SBB single train ticket validity

A single ticket is valid as a one way ticket (not back and forth) to get from
A to B.

If you buy a Z-Pass Schwyz/Zug-ZVV Tageskarte then you can go back and forwards for the whole day. Cost is 17.50 CHF . ( with half fare )

Re: SBB single train ticket validity

Are you using the SBB app? Buy a one-way from Zug-Zug via Zürich.

If you're right that that's how it works (and you may be, there's some regional variation depending which network you 're on) then it'll cost the same as one way Zug-Zürich. If not it'll cost more - but either way you'll have the right ticket for what you actually plan to do.

Its called Zurich- Zug return which will cost the equivalent of a day pass. Logical to buy the day pass

Re: SBB single train ticket validity

The reason why I'm confused about this is on the website next to the single purchase ticket it gives info:

"Valid for unlimited travel on all public transportation services within the applicable zones during the period of validity."

I will double check with the sbb people

Yes but are you talking about a ticket that says Zug to Zurich 2 hours valid. If so its logical you cannot use the same ticket to come back. Its not a return ticket

Re: SBB single train ticket validity

Just looked at the SBB site....the ticket offered for Zug-Zurich is a 2hr Z-Pass (CHF 8.70) which is described as

"Im Z-Pass erwerben Sie ein Billette für die benötigten Zonen und nicht für eine Strecke von A nach B."
(with a Z-Pass you purchase a ticket for the required zones and not for a segment from A to B)

So in this case, yes, you can spend 2 hours pottering back and forward between Zug and Zurich as many times as you like / can manage.
