Most of the (worthwhile) navigation systems do have that function, but it of course does not cover temporary limits, as they are not part of the mapping data.

However a positive trend in the car tech today (Mazda is one brand I can think of) is the traffic sign recognition, which uses the front camera, then puts the recognized sign next to your speedometer.
I hope more and more manufacturers will bring that to their cars soon.

Our Kia has that feature too, it’s very useful.

Rail transport can be as competitive as it wants, but it doesn't go everywhere nor is it "joined up" enough to make things easier.
That, too, is a problem that cries out for higher fines and taxes on road users and a redirection of state revenue towards the development of more, better and more "joined up" trains/trams/light rail/electric buses and other public transport options.

Not saying it's perfect but coming from the UK, Switzerland is pretty much up there with the best served public transport services in Europe, if not globally. If you could emulate any country's system here, whose example would it be?

You seem to have experience with better public transport systems.

On the other hand you can use the time in the train for other things whereas your time behind the steering wheel is wasted.

Re: Third speeding ticket in as many months

Yes, Switzerland has lots of speed traps (aka revenue sources) in the cities as well as on the freeways.

I always drive using cruise control on the freeways. Also, watch out for tunnels - before as well as inside them.

In the countryside it's too easy to let your mind wander and let the car's speed rise above the limit.

I just accept the strict enforcement and automoted fines as an additional highway tax.

But, thanks to the strict enforcement and my liberal use of cruise control, I've lowered my speeding infractions (and saved lots of money doing it) over the years.

Good luck!

Eventually, if this is the way it goes, you'll have no choice at some point in time, unfortunately
Doubt that I'll live long enough to see it happen.

Re: Third speeding ticket in as many months

Thanks for all the responses. I've come to terms with my situation and have prepared my 260chf for the authorities.

As some of you suggested, I was running a bit late. Not that this was intentional speeding to make up for lost time... More that I was too focused on not getting lost; a slight detour wouldn't have been a problem if I had more time.

I will look into these apps. As someone who lives (& drives) solo, having something to remind you of things like this are invaluable.

Possibly, although not necessarily of the same combination of scale and population density, but more importantly I have confidence that public transport will have to improve globally to move us away from an era ruinously dominated and disastrously shaped by privately driven vehicles.

Yes I think they really have to hit car drivers where it hurts. The wallet. They have to take responsibility for the damage they do to the environment. 50 years age we were innocent about any damage caused. It was not an issue. But times have changed. So wake up car drivers and show a bit of responsibility!
