B04 = what in Eurocat?

So after trying to be ecologically and cost conscious, I ended up poking a wheel in the LEZ as I drove it to Heathrow parking. Apparently my minivan is possibly not exempt.

The “fine” is around 2000 CHF () as I did not register my car. I blithely assumed I would be OK as it is a private car and not commercial, and besides, I didn’t even think the LEZ would be in force around LHR.

I have appealed (but reading through it all it I will be shafted).

However, I need to provide the Eurocat score of my car. My Fahrzeugausweis says B04, but I cannot find any conversion online. I figured someone here my know.

Thanks in advance for any help.

In general (with some exemptions as always):

B = Passenger car (petrol/gasoline as well as Diesel)
D = Diesel car
C = Motorcycle

0Xy applicable Euro norm.
00 is pre-Euro.

Mine must be an exception then, as it is a diesel...

No. D are working and construction vehicles. They will get a blue license plate.

Re: B04 = what in Eurocat?

As a follow-up to the original post, I contested the fine and Transport for London rejected it.

However they sent me a pamphlet for adjudication by a separate & independent arbitrator. What the hey, I filled in the form with details and contested on 2 counts:
1) that my car is a private with 7 seats, not commercial vehicle with 8 seats
2) how the fine had been calculated was not clear (despite requests for clarification) and thus was out of proportion to the offence.

I also expressed my frustration about the situation - that I was driving to a car park for the airport, where the car was parked for a week, before returning to Kent.

Yesterday I got a letter saying TfL were not contesting my appeal. All charges dropped.

The feckers. One for the little guy. Happy about the result but pissed about the whole process. My guess is that they can’t be arsed to chase a foreigner. For those in the UK, I expect it would have been a different story.
